  • You can't really say it's "their government" when the Palestinians in Gaza haven't had free and fair elections in years. Hamas has fucked the civilians in both Israel and Gaza. Civilians of either country who don't support the aggressive actions of "their side" (countinued settlement, terrorism) shouldn't be suffering as a result.

    If you turn up to a chippy or fried chicken place just before closing time in the UK they sometimes give you extra food they would otherwise have to bin at the end of the night. I get why it's annoying if you'd have to cook something fresh though.

  • I don't think singular "they" is that common except among very young people, and does lead to confusion.

    As an example, my brother once showed me a picture of a person on a dating app and said "they are nice" and I thought he was talking about the person's breasts...

    Also, "it" is dehumanising, I'd feel uncomfortable calling someone "it" even if they told me it was their preferred pronoun.
