  • Same page club, except the vague hope.

Honestly the vague hope was keeping me at my lowest until I learned to understand and completely accept that our world is ending by our own hands, detach from being on the human team, and just gawk at the freak show of the exploitative macro-cancer monkeys that we are with gallows fascination.

This is the same thing comedian George Carlin bragged about doing to find peace in his later years, BTW.

When you remove trying to root for us to be not horrible, we are a spectacular and peculiar thing to behold, a remarkable evolutionary oddity, like Pandas. Like how are we the apex predator?! It's nuts and hilarious.

  • Chinese people seem pretty happy on Rednote.

They mostly empathize with us Americans for our life of economic struggle for our wealth class in exchange for nothing but Subsistence.

They're confused as to how it's allowed to happen. They thought a lot of true horror stories about our health insurance murder industry and living paycheck go paycheck statistically unlikely to be able to cover a 400 expense was their government's propaganda, and are horrified it's not.

It's amazing how many protections non-wealthy people have there.

I now completely understand why our government doesn't want us having casual conversations with actual societies of people, as opposed to capitalist slaughterhouses like we are here in the US. Mooooo....

Also their cars are so high tech ours are in the stone age by comparison. No wonder they can't sell them here, they'd eat our lunch. App controlled call the car to pull up to you, captains chairs that power rotate into new configurations, on and on.

  • After it filled up with pro-trump propaganda and started blocking hashtags based on who Trump hates, I went back to Rednote for now until our "free" nation bans that to maintain the capitalist oligarch narrative on major social media. We can talk about Luigi there.

I'd rather be propagandized by them than Zuck and Elon and Bezos and Donnie. Their people actually seem to believe they owe one another basic decency and courtesy. It's refreshing.

    "Herp derp genocide!"

When there's a non distributed, aka popular and populated, social network that isn't the product and propaganda tool of a genocidal nation, I'll defect to that, but I haven't heard anything about a civilized, admirable nation like Norway launching a competitor.

  • Reminder: Ayn Rand died on public assistance.

They're only for freedom to gouge for water at the only source for a hundred miles when they believe they'll be the ones holding the ladle.

  • This is a good example of the "If you regulate/tax business, they'll just leave and you'll be sorry!" Ayn Rand fallacy.

All this means is that their business model was to gouge consumers, and being barred from gouging cheap internet for their poorest customers revealed that they were (and still are everywhere else) bad faith, dishonest, antisocial actors that have no interest in providing products and services for a reasonable margin.

Just as with any business that would exit a market, or billionaire that would leave the country to prevent taxation back into the commons that facilitated their wealth accumulation to begin with (a preliterate workforce, roads and utilities they disproportionately degrade with heavy use, etc) you demonstrate that you work against your own customers and your own people, so by all means, gtfo.

  • They still think it's Presidential to follow pomp and circumstance to preserve the appearance of national normalcy as the nation burns on multiple fronts.

Just as in their Presidencies, they want to be known for promoting social quiet, despite their Presidencies all defending and furthering economic violence in the name of all their wealthy friends who "donated to" their respective parties over the years.

  • Biden was an og Congressional neoliberal. A prominent one. He helped Reagan convert Republican's former opposition party into the corpo bribe taking, social inclusion!... Economic die in the streets... party it is today, locking arms with Republicans to defend our murderous economy from us as they stoke social division between us so we don't look up at our sociopath owners.

Voted for him out of harm reduction compared to Trump, a vote for quiet not peace, but fuck Joe Biden.

  • Our oligarchs want us to compete to the death for their ever dwindling relative to inflation and productivity scraps, but they've grown too powerful to tolerate competition themselves.

Not when they've gone to all the trouble of normalizing monopolies and duopolies at home.

  • That is just sad.

Our capitalist's Greed, avarice, the desire to treat their countrymen as livestock so they can live as modern pharoahs on our back and the willingness to bribe their own regulators and capture the government with their capital (power) they're only supposed to have a single vote in is why the government treats us as livestock.

It's ridiculous you think China made our owner class act as murderous sociopaths in order to amass their ridiculous hoards.

The CCP had nothing to do with our for profit healthcare insurance sector murdering their own customers, our citizens with the approval of both parties, when they become inconvenient to private profit as just one of countless examples. China has their own sins, that isn't one of them.

We are the primary vector destabilizing governments and waging wars to expand our greed disease around the world to keep resources and markets open to our capitalist's exploitation because it's never fucking enough. No one forced us into that. Our owners just demanded moar.

If you want Americans to be loyal, establish social and economic equity. Until then, don't expect the tortured masses to thank or appreciate their torturers, let alone have loyalty to them. That's just Stockholm syndrome.

  • I consider the domestic powers that be to be hostile to people of low net worth, aka most of the people they govern, so there's that.

When your own society treats you like a disposable capital battery that will gladly kill you when it finally breaks you, like by denying your necessary healthcare in a vast insurance confidence scheme, it's strange to expect allegiance.

The United States is very clear that we're on our own, "free" to die in the streets. I find it strange that some Americans take offense to other Americans taking their business elsewhere.

  • Has the sun tried threatening potential converts?

Works gangbusters for for the most popular religions.

Hell, they usually steal the sun's defining characteristic to threaten followers with: 🔥🔥🔥.

  • I'm not either. But I find peace in understanding, even if the answers suck, as this one does.

If I had an in anywhere in Europe, I'd leave and never look back.

I phone banked for Sanders twice, but have finally accepted this place would take generations of concerted effort to be anything less than cruel and inhuman. It's too proud of the core causes of its rot (worshipped sociopathic "free to die in the streets market" economy, pride in individualism over community or society, social resentment of paying into Commons like public Ed, greed seen as virtue rather than character deficit and social ill, etc) to want to change.

Ask any therapist, if someone isn't seeking change, you won't get anywhere with them. We want things to get better, but we still want to dream of being millionaires and billionaires, and to remain addicted to harmful social opiates like social media, fast food, extreme consumerism, literal opiates, etc.
