I think its neat, its nice to have an actual summary without having to click the link that drags you to another site having to read a long ass article.
Are you thinking of doing a summary bot for like tech news ? That would be really cool too 😎
It took me a whhhhile my best advice, is to make All/new your home feed, and block Aggressively ANYTHING and EVERYTHING, you don't want to see, even if it's not politics. Block block block block. I make it a habit to check lemmy every morning and block every single community i do not want that's shown up in the current day. I keep blocking until I hit posts from the previous day where I've already gone through and did my blocking. Do that every day, be consistent, and you'll see it start to clear up.
Also do you find that you have to repeatedly block the same communities?
YES My god it's annoying too. The thing is, I think the ppl who make those communities, make a bunch of them on several instances bc they know no one wants to see it and they aren't getting engagement. It's their way of shoving it down your throat.
There is certain communities that shows up every day and gets blocked every day, and the next day they’re back
My theory on this, is it's because the same users are deliberately creating more of them on other instances. Just keep blocking and don't stop.
Now, for me, I only get maybe 5 to 7 communities each day I don't want to see and I block them, and it clears up my feed.
I thought suspension is when they ban your account from the site for X amount of days. Rather then a perma ban which is banned from the site entirely forever
Couldn't they have a designated instance for testing and then have users volunteer to join? Thereby, using the instance solely for testing purposes and to get feedback ?
It could even be a limited amount of users so the server costs wouldn't be so high. I don't see why something like this isn't already in place.
Also, have they laid out the costs? Are they being transparent about how much goes to X and how much goes to Y? Id think that would be best practice.
If i were donating, I'd want to know exactly what my donation is going to. If it's just going to their 'living costs' essentially paying their salary, then that needs to be stated plainly. Not lumped into 'development'....
Also, what doesn't make sense to me is why would ppl donate when most instances are so restrictive leading to excessive bans and barrier to entry? It would be like im paying to NOT be able to use a service and am limited.
✨️✨️🙌✨️✨️ ok dumb question but what do i need to do? Just get links from the websites I want to use?
