  • Hyperion+Endymion by Dan Simmons. Such a wonderfully written book that evokes so many sad feelings.

It's veeeery slow (basically the entire first book is build up for the second one), but it's so rewarding watching all the threads come together by the end.

  • SR1 was discount GTA, but SR2 was its own thing already.

Huge and detailed world, infinite customisation options, and a story that balanced comedic relief with serious moments.

It's a shame that the game is so buggy, because I'd replay it a lot more otherwise.

In comparison, SR3 had a lot less content: smaller game world, much shorter story mode, less side quests.

  • It certainly is a common occurrence, but I don't see many households dropping another $200 on top of the cost of the PS5. If this existed back in the days, my parents would have told me to either play something else/go outside, or move the console to my room.

  • Very excited for this. Too bad I don't have much time to play videogames like I used to when I was a kid! There are so many games to play, and they make them so long these days.

  • Watching this trailer was... Odd.

Like, this isn't a game. It's a mish mash of every popular title of the past 10 years. Warband, For Honor, Assassin's Creed, Zelda, Just Cause, Monster Hunter, Red Dead Redemption, Dragon's Dogma.

It's called Crimson Desert, yet there was no desert. I saw medieval castles, green pastures, even sci-fi intra-dimensional portals; You fight knights, monsters, robots; You meet medieval peasants, Korean princesses, deer-people; There's even a fishing mini-game.

Is this a game, or an AI generated trailer?

  • I mean. The book will still be there tomorrow. Those people may die if not healed.

That being said, I may or may not have spent the last few hours reading books instead of sleeping, so what do I know.

  • I bought the big PF2 bundle during the OGL controversy and I really liked what I was looking at. Unfortunately my party isn't really thrilled about changing system, so I'm stuck with dnd for the foreseeable future :/

  • I feel like Glory of Giants is just too light on content to justify a purchase.

One subclass, two backgrounds, a bunch of feats. Is that really it? I know they are most busy with 1DnD, but considering how that's shaping out to be, I'm not really confident about the future of DnD.

  • Can I still play my Xbox 360 games after July 2024?

Yes, you will still be able to play the games you purchased on Xbox 360. If you purchased the game digitally or have a physical disc, you can still jump in and play. If you’ve deleted a game that you have purchased, but you want to play again, you’ll still be able to re-download it.

What about multiplayer games via the Xbox network? Can I still play with my friends?

Yes. Even after July 2024, you will still be able to play games and connect with friends through multiplayer on the games you purchased, as long as the publisher still supports the online servers. You can still save your games and progress to the cloud, and if you choose to continue any of those available games on Xbox One or Xbox Series X|S, those cloud saves will transfer over.

Can I still buy and play Xbox 360 backward-compatible titles?

There is no impact to purchasing or playing backward-compatible Xbox 360 titles. After July 29, 2024, you will still be able to purchase hundreds of great backward-compatible Xbox 360 and Original Xbox games and DLC on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox.com. We believe in celebrating gaming’s rich history and have worked hard to preserve as many games as possible through our backward-compatibility program. You can find the full list of backward-compatible titles here.

  • I am literally unable to remember people's faces. If you talk to me, go for a walk, and come back ten minutes later, I won't recognize you.

Once, the guy who sat next to me at university for two years, and with whom I spent countless time together, took the same bus as me. I hopped on the bus, saw him, and my brain told me "Uh, that's kind of a familiar face, I guess". I smiled to him (because he looked familiar), then I passed him and and went to sit some rows behind.

He's made fun of me ever since.

The worst thing is, I work at the front desk of a hotel. I always struggle to remember who's who. Sometimes I recognize their shirt, their hair, their voice, or I see a family with two kids and remember "oh yeah, they're from room 210". But most of the time, I must ask them to remind me which room they are, even if they checked-in just ten minutes before.

  • Agreed. This has nothing to do with advertisers. It's about creating a community where hate speech is not allowed. Free speech doesn't include nazi, transphobes and the likes.

  • I second Summit.

Very active developer, he just released mod tools and multi communities. I spent years browsing Reddit with Relay and felt miserable with every other Lemmy app, but with Summit, I felt right at home.

  • I started Tunic yesterday and rang the first two bells (east and west). Loving it so far. Too bad work will get in the way for the most part of the week, I can't wait to delve into the game again :)

  • I think you are talking of Furi. The developers shared how many units were sold on which platforms (link to Vice article), which showed that Xbox just wasn't worth working on because it wouldn't recoup the costs. For reference, the game was already a few years old at that point and MS refused to put it on GamePass, which would've hurt the game's visibility even more.

  • Sorry, i read the link while half asleep. The article itself is only a few lines long, and then it diverts to "Other Darrington Press games" and I didn't notice it while reading.

I'll check it out when it releases, although the problem with other systems is always the same - my group already knows dnd and doesn't want to learn a new game. I bought some pathfinder books a few months ago and I've never had the chance to use them.

  • I see, thank you for the link.

It seems to me it's a pvp focused game, which is not really my thing. Having fun as a party is the main reason I play DnD to begin with. Too much stress already, I like sitting and playing a chill adventure with my friends instead of competing against them.

  • Playing with established characters is great if you like reading other people's stories and care about them.

Playing blank characters is great if you are creative and can make up stories of your own.

I'd like blank characters more if games were made so I actually have agency in the world and my choices actually mattered, but I've yet to find such a game. Most of the time you're a generic hero and the entire world revolves around you for no reason, and everyone is waiting for you to do their chores while also spoon-feeding you the entire content of the game, which takes me out of the story and shatters my suspension of disbelief.

Like, in Skyrim I became the head of Hogwarts while only knowing one or two basic spells. It's hard to play a role when the game itself doesn't care about you and gives you everything no matter what.

  • I miss the old days, browsing internet forums and discovering for the first time that there exist people out there who like the same nerdy things that I do!
