  • That may be true, but that wasn't the point he tried to make. The problem is that netflix used to have everything at a good monthly price and once they dominated the market, enshittification and price hike started, plus all the other companies wanted in on the action, starting their own service.

Now MS is trying to do the same to the PC gaming market.

  • For motorcycle riding i use calimoto. It has an option to find the most curvy route to your destination. It also works offline, which is great when riding in remote areas with poor cell coverage or foreign countries with expensive roaming conditions.

Also it can track your journey and show elevation, acceleration, speed and lean angle.

Unfortunately it's subscription based now, but i was licky enough to buy it before that, so i basically got lifetime premium account.

One more downside is the shitty search function. even with the exact address copy pasted it almost never finds the location.

  • Who is actually buying Windows standalone?

People who build their own PC and want to use an OS that they are familiar with. Especially when you want to game, windows is just easier than any free os and you can get a legit key for 20-30 bucks, while pirating windows has become a lot more complicated since XP.

  • I think you misunderstood. he meant in Germany the gfci is wired between where the electricity comes into your home and the breakers, so every outlet is protected, not just the ones in the bathroom.

Except in old buildings, like the one i'm living in, where there is no grounding wire and ground fault protection is done by bridging ground to neutral and hoping that enough current flows through the fault to trigger the breaker.

  • As long as you keep a pc with the specs and OS of the time the game was released. GOG is also making an effort to patch these games to make them run on current hard- and software without the hassle of finding and downloading fan patches, running emulators/virtual machines and all the other hoops one might have to jump through to get an old game running.

Of course you could theoretically pirate the gog version after they made it run, but given that these games usually cost about 5-10 bucks and some go as low as 1-2 when on sale, i think that's worth it to support these efforts.

  • Upgrading would have cost way more. one of the reasons atom power is so expensive (without government subsidies) is the cost of the plants which needs to be recouped as well as the price of the uranium. not to mention that we haven't found a suitable place to store the waste for those thousands of years until it's harmless.

  • selling your body

i hate that phrasing to describe sex work. no one is "selling their body", as they are still in control of it. sex workers provide a service, same as a masseuse or hair stylist (except their service involves genitals) and it should be treated as such.

Otherwise one could argue that all (physical) labour is "selling your body"
