  • I have a seedbox and have been using private trackers for well over a decade. I seed forever, or until I need space.

When I cannot find something on one of my private trackers I do look on public trackers. I find the experience lacking.

    My issues with public trackers:

    1. Search sites are sketchy af. Between pop up ads and fake direct download links, it can be challenging to find whatever you are looking for.
    2. Files can be poorly tagged or completely named wrong. The number of times I have downloaded not porn only to find porn can be counted on one hand, mostly because the other hand is busy.

Anyway, I will gladly seed until the end of time if a public torrent search site exists that can get me the content I want without making me need a shower after.

  • That is my solution as well for now. I bet TVs will start to come with cellular chips soon though.

  • No, the treasury fingered China. I knew a girl named China once and that tracks. Still not sure how mum was involved though.

  • Anyone who can't make money with a casino is completely inept.

  • I mainly game on Xbox but run Linux exclusively on my PC. I am considering cancelling my Xbox Gamepass Ultimate sub but my kids also use it. That's a tough one.

  • This vision of the AI making everything easier always leaves out the part where nobody has a job as a result.

Sure you can relax on a beach, you have all the time in the world now that you are unemployed. The disconnect is mind boggling.

  • Work is something I do, not who I am.

Americans have been indoctrinated to feel their work is their worth.

  • Life at home would have to be pretty bad for me to rather be at work.

  • Never tried but I'm in.

  • I also considered this. My thought was to outline a few reasons, with receipts, as to why I have left Reddit. I would also mention Lemmy as an alternative.

  • Yeah. I was thinking I would have to do this manually.

  • Ugh. Doing it once would be a task for my main account.

  • This is probably true. Also, I think I would have to do this manually and I am lazy so there is that.

  • It is not legal to charge a different price at the register. Also, it would be quite difficult to ensure the price you pay at the register matches the price you saw on the shelf ten minutes ago.

  • 100% agree.

I'm 50 years old and I am the IT guy for people of all ages. Not because I am part of some gifted generation that understands computers, but because I have a genuine interest and took the time to learn these things.

My 16yo son also has a keen interest in computers and I am passing on my knowledge where I can.

I somewhat feel that attributing computer knowledge to a generational thing in some way diminishes the effort and time it took to get the knowledge and experience that I do have.

You don't have to have hung around with Henry Ford to be a car guy, or Nikola Tesla to be an electrician.
