  • I definitely feel like I got an absolute steal of a deal. No idea when the sale ends, but I got all 3 games in the BioShock series, with DLC, and the 2 remasters for a little over $11USD before tax this weekend. I just finished my first time playing any of the games on PC. Had to install the original on my desktop with win10 because I couldn't get the resolution right or brightness slider working on my steam deck when docked. Definitely prefer console controls because I was having a lot of trouble with mouse and keyboard controls, so I'm gonna have to switch to controller.

Other than that, I started playing Stellar Initiative this weekend as well and it's was pretty difficult on the easiest difficulty while I was learning how to play and what works well with which enemies.

  • Can't speak from a non-Americacentric POV, but usually I find that just by being online I somehow am able to find out a lot about what's going on in some places because of what I watch on yt. That, and communities here.

Some weird new law in Japan censoring Mangaka from creating what they want because some Japanese politician apparently hates Japanese culture that isn't PG at worst? Has floated to me due to a channel I check up on in Newpipe.

The whole thing about Italy literally giving big corporations the right to decide what is and is not allowed on Italian Internet and forcing ISPs to block them effective immediately? First heard about it from the piracy(at)Lemmy(dot)dbzer0(dot)com community, when someone posted a link to a TorrentFreak article.

Things randomly drift to me because of how I view and consume media.

  • I think it's still nice to have just so that way if for some reason Proton suddenly disappears alongside Wine (alongside all their forks and other related things) in some catastrophically low odds event you can still play the game or use the program.

  • Works for Sonic 3D Blast on Genesis and probably the other games as well, but BARRACUDA (b a right right a c up d a) for certain things. I'd like to think it's debug mode, but I don't fully remember since it's been more than a few months since I last played and tried on either 3D Blast, 1, or 2.

  • My current one I found here on Lemmy. Someone made a post showcasing a screenshot of some discussion around someone who took the iconic Luigi Mangione smile but did a furry version. I had to have it, so I downloaded it and have furry Luigi as my background currently.

Otherwise, it's usually images I find online on art sharing platforms like DeviantArt or FurAffinity.

  • If possible, just get in my family's van and get into a big enough accident that I die. I ain't living in any form of zombie apocalypse if I have the choice.

  • Sliding joycons against a flat surface? Cannot wait for it to come out they intentionally made them so piss poor that after a few times doing it, your joycon breaks and you need to get an official new one in order to use that feature, which will probably be shamelessly required to use an important feature in some place like their shitty store.

  • A25 here, so far I'm in the same boat, bloatware and all.

  • To be fair, they're also gonna extend this to literally everyone at some point if they have their way.

  • That is exactly why I almost always open search results in a new tab.

  • I'll take a Michigan, hold the mustard. Absolutely love chili dogs.

  • Something only exists until it's banned. If we get to the point where they ban alternatives, I guarantee they'll start going after self-hosting next. Profit line must always go up, as they'd say.

  • To be fair, regardless of whatever we think, there was always gonna be at minimum one country to do it. Now it's a race to see who else follows and from there how this (d)evolves.

  • I don't know about other churches, but the Methodist Church I used to go to with my grandma never had a pastor out of the 2 I witnessed that did stuff like that. Maybe it depends on the region, but I've never heard of those type of manipulative strategies where I live, so I'd say I'm pretty lucky on that front. Closest I've probably heard of something like that in my area are the Mormons, but that's a whole nother can of worms that I don't wanna touch.

Regardless, that doesn't sound right or like a very Christian thing to do. Even if the verses tell of similar things, context for those verses are real important, just like with any other readings (religious or otherwise).

  • More floaty, less realistic platforming. Thugs like double jump, or somehow your character has less gravity when they jump, stuff like that. Stuff like that. As a general platformer lover, I really enjoy more fictional cannot be done IRL physics in games.

  • No. Any game I might possibly consider pre-ordering isn't going to magically disappear. I was gonna make a comment about how there's probably no guarantee about return policy on Steam for pre-order games, but I looked it up and can't make the argument I was gonna.

Either way, I would much prefer to wait for a game to be on sale on a much later date because at that point any major game ruining glitches/bugs should hopefully be patched and price will be cheaper. Generally, I don't tend to buy games over a certain price anymore. Price varies, but right now it's over $20USD since I'm on a college financial aid budget. And no, I don't include $19.99 as under the budget because that's absolutely marketing bullshit that I think should die.

Also, I don't like pre-ordering games since you usually don't get any real world bonus items anymore (at least from triple AAA titles anymore). Granted, I've only ever done 2 IRL pre-orders in my life, but I was extremely disappointed about not getting anything besides access to free DLC for the Borderlands Pre-Sequel game compared to how I got a full guide book for BioShock Infinite, which was more than enough to make me thrilled (even if I've never actually used it once).

Plus, at this point, pretty much every single pre-order game I see (unsurprisingly all triple AAA) is a game I know I'm not gonna like, so it's pointless for me.

  • Just wait until the rich realize they can just pay the government to immediately shut off all services that compete with them by then, at least in the States if nothing happens to stop them by then.

  • Anybody surprised to this must clearly have never looked up any news whatsoever about Communist China once in their life. This kinda stuff is probably common enough that it makes American 3 letter agencies wanna end their lives in embarrassment.

  • I don't really have a solid stance on it. Case by case, country by country. But at least a country that has citizens that have gone through a little bit of service have people who are at least slightly more knowledgeable on how to defend themselves in case they need to rebel or defend themselves with a gun (so long as the people remember their training).
