  • If anybody still believed in Telegram's trustworthiness, it should now be dispelled.

(Only kidding, there's plenty of people who still "believe" in both Durov and Musk)

  • OP's username checks out!

We're frying ourselves. And again I met a person today who doubted if it's human made and not maybe just some natural cyclic thing. Some people just don't want to see a truth when it's bleak. Shiny happy people.

  • Probably a standardized answer, only the snippet "adding Catturd's dead dog to an image" varies. Meh.

  • This was my first thought. Maybe I'm way off the mark (I stopped using Windows in 2012) but I always thought the only thing it has going for itself is their toolkit. Not because it's pretty but because everyone writes applications for the same toolkit.

  • Now I'm curious, how do we know how many bacteria there are on earth?

  • Fuck Peter Thiel with a rusty spade. Him and his technonazi ilk.

And I'm not "just" angry. They actively pursue this bullshit, Skynet, Citicorp, like a Bond movie villain. They try to build their neoliberal cities in the desert only to find out that there's already people living there and now they have to deal with these pesky authorities, and courts, and whatnot.

  • I guess it means "full mask off". Wait, that's what they've been doing for the past years anyhow. Hmmm.

Also how would that be retaliation against France and the UK? It's like any tough movie criminal's favorite trick: I will torture not you, but this person you feel for until you give me what I want!

But seriously, my octogenarian parents would probably gobble it up and blame anybody who recognizes Palestine for being too confrontational, thus making lasting peace impossible. I kid you not.

  • Trump and his Republican stooges in Congress apparently anticipated this. Hidden inside their Big Ugly Bill is a provision intended to block the courts from using contempt to enforce its orders. It reads:

“No court of the United States may use appropriated funds to enforce a contempt citation for failure to comply with an injunction or temporary restraining order if no security was given when the injunction or order was issued …”

Translated: no federal court may enforce a contempt citation.

The measure would make most existing injunctions – in antitrust cases, police reform cases, school desegregation cases and others – unenforceable.

“This would be a stunning restriction on the power of the federal courts. The Supreme Court has long recognized that the contempt power is integral to the authority of the federal courts. Without the ability to enforce judicial orders, they are rendered mere advisory opinions which parties are free to disregard.”

In other words, with this single measure, Trump will have crowned himself king.

  • Onnetomuuksien lisäksi suurin ongelma on niiden paljous (kaupungeissa) ja järjetön pysäköinti. Toivottavasti tämä auttaa siihenkin.

  • I recently learned about the horrors that went on around systematic child abduction & abuse in Korea. Went on well into the 1980s. Sorry I don't remember the name of the podcast/docu. And yes, South Korea.

  • Make it make sense!

Just kidding. It makes perfect sense. All signs point to totalitarianism.

  • Those pesky "We have updated our privacy policy" emails. And "by ignoring this message you have signaled consent" (paraphrasing).

  • Google is clearly experimenting with baking ads into the delivered video streams, YT Premium members get served different endpoints already in preparation.

Enshittification is guaranteed even for the paid tier.

Maybe there'll be silver, gold and platinum memberships next. How long til you realize you've been had?

  • Sort of hard to exist without interacting with Google at all

I explicitely did not claim that.

And as the other guy said, you don't need a G account to watch youtube.

  • The article makes a point about a certain type of workplace vampirism - which also finds its way into the finished product - but also points out that there are different types of complexity and they aren't all "bad". It's a little confusing to read imho.

But I get the point. I am by no means an IT person but I just took over a blog theme and I'm apalled by the minified CSS framework the whole thing relies on. Looking at the margins for some divs, they are defined and overridden 4 times before their final value, and only the 5th time could have been avoided had the original developer known a little more about the framework they were apparently eager to use.

  • Yeah fuck Google. Delete all Google accounts before it's too late. Plenty of alternatives exist and you can still benefit from their rankings and whatnot, if your business depends on that.

  • Yeah there's something very ironic about this quote:

"I’ve always had a very good relationship with Vladimir Putin of Russia, but something has happened to him," Trump said.
