  • This may not be green but is at least green tinted. It would be a step forward.

Currently jet fuel not only emits a huge amount of carbon dioxide but does so at altitude that makes more difference. We need to do something.

Unfortunately there isn’t really a green solution (except high speed rail) and batteries may never be able to serve that use case. This is at least emitting carbon that is currently in the carbon cycle rather than digging up more carbon that was sequestered for hundreds of millions of years. It’s at least simplifying the problem to growing crops, which already need to be decarbonized. We need to do something. A less than ideal step is still a step.

This would be even better if the goal is to redirect ethanol for cars, which have better solutions, so we’re not changing the overall agricultural impact. Of course that assumes we’re effectively managing the transition to electric vehicles rather than hold on tight to our buggy whips

  • Republicans. When I was a child, slogans like “fiscally responsible”, “family values”, “smaller government “ sounded like good things. Republicans always claimed the moral high ground. But they’ve spent my entire adult life proving it as manipulative bullshit for personal greed and power, holding themselves above the law, the worst in humanity, rising to our current flirt with fascism.

  • I hope I’m not giving too much credit for a strategy, npbut it might just be an attempt to provoke a reaction. Either California backs down or they resist and there’s an excuse to take over. Look for a bunch of masked thugs to try to arrest Newsom for “treason”

  • I don’t think your assumptions about police are valid. In my state, police are not allowed to assist federal officials when no state crime is being investigated. While it is targeted at immigration, it has the plausible deniability of being general and a veneer of non-interference and fiscal responsibility. Sanctuary doesn’t mean police will act to help the victims, just that they’re not allowed to help the thugs

  • fear that the rift and public mudslinging between Trump and Musk could leave them vulnerable to political retribution and damage their future job prospects,

Maybe they should look at their own actions, listen to the response of citizens, consult whatever they call a moral authority, consult a legal authority….. if they’re able to develop any self-awareness they’ll realize that’s only the beginning

  • This not only hurts environment and the consumer, but also “America first” manufacturers. I’m sure it’s great for shareholders to make more profit in the short term by sticking with older technologies the world is moving on from, but how can you sell that anywhere else? This just helps former global manufacturers lapse into irrelevant obsolescence

  • I remember it being like that decades ago - a long car trip might have required more stops to clean the windshield than to get gas. Not in a very long time though. Now I do get at least one hit per week but I don’t have to clean it even as frequently as I get car washes.

Where are you that there are still bugs (other than mosquitoes)?

  • It has no near term answer. Will there be free elections? Will the constitution be restored? Will law and order mean something again? Will sanity be restored?

If there’s any hope left for my fellow Americans, it’s just another year and a half before the nazis and sycophants get voted out. Then two years of non-functioning infighting …. I can dream that sanity happens. Eventually everyone of these thugs acting above the law should be brought to justice. Every one of those cops and ice agents: you know what constitutional rights are, including habeas corpus; you are responsible for obeying illegal orders
