  • Any famous beer that is associated with a country is usually shit.... Like molson canadian, fosters, or bud light

It took me a while to realize guinness falls firmly into this category as well

  • Unless you have the latest, newest hardware, most things should work out of the box

Worst case scenario you may have to edit one file in /etc/apt/sources.list to enable some drivers and firmware

Dont let the internet scare you with stories about how only L337 hax0rs can use debian. Its really easy

  • my mortgage does go up with inflation because the central bank raises rates to fight inflation, and i live in a stupid country where a 25yr amortized mortgage isn't really a 25yr mortgage... you need to renew it every 5 years at whatever interest rates the banks dream up.

  • This is by design. Inflation is designed to make you work harder to justify a raise that barely keeps your standard of living intact.

More profits for your boss, same standard of living (or lower) for you....

Inflation is wildly out of control now, but even pre-pandemic, the central bank's 2% target inflation is designed to make you work harder for nothing in return

  • I love KDE. Been using it for 10 years

One question i've always had though... Does anyone actually use the default KDE software like konqueror, kmail, kontacts, etc? Why not just focus on the desktop environment?

  • This is the first seemingly realisitic news i've heard from western media, why is it getting downvoted?

Ever since russia failed to take kyiv early on, the only news i hear from our media is "russia failed, russia will be bankrupt in 3 months, russia losing 50k troops every week, mutiny in russian army, etc...." They made it sound like the war would be over in less than a year.... But clearly russia is doing way better than previously reported over the past 3 years, otherwise the war would be over.

I spoke to a ukranian guy at work and even he says that western media is totally downplaying russia's strength.

I could understand reporting this way (to boost morale) if we were directly involved in the war with troops...
