There's been a pretty recent development in the Windows Customization community which released a new toolkit, essentially allowing you to write YAML-based scripts with custom instructions how to modify a live windows installation, which makes the process completely open-source and transparent. I can link some of the projects pages if youre interested to learn more.
my frustration is that there are ads in the first place
Fair enough, a very good point.
Personally I've been using customized / debloated versions of windows for a couple years now and have not looked back. Every time I spin up a stock Windows VM I'm shocked how atrocious the experience is. Though I understand that a Windows ISO modified by an unknown third party can be scary to some.
Question: if you already don't like Windows, I assume you don't care about the new features that come with new updates. So I wonder - why do you update at all? Set everything up as you want it, remove all the hot garbage as you see fit, and disable updates.
I don't know of any streaming services that provide flac access for free. Deezer and Tidal have flacs, but require subscriptions. If you want flacs without any payments, from what I know at least, you're gonna have to resort to torrents or Usenet.
How did you see formerly received messages on the number you booked? I've used the service a couple times and wouldn't know of an option to see messages received before the moment you booked the number.
Thank you, sent. While I'm crossing my fingers that someone reads/notices this, I am just as doubtful that any valuable action will be taken before it is too late. Democratic governments are simply too slow.
I've been using mpv for all kinds of content and have only had good experiences with it. Only the control scheme takes some getting used to as you do everything with keybinds instead of a clickable interface.
I don't see how this would work with additional network setup if you want to stream to devices outside your LAN. You'd need to at least set up port forwarding on your router to allow your friends to access your stream, and then you'd still be limited by the upload rate of your local network, which might not be fast enough depending on the movie quality. A centralized version of this, where the movie resides on some server that you all "download" the movie from would be more reliable, but I don't know of any from the top of my head that would do the trick.
EDIT: now that i think of it, w2g.tv allows streaming any movie file from any server via direct link to file. So if you figure out any sort of hoster where you can upload the movie, or if you find a streaming platform that hosts a direct .mp4 file already, you can copy & paste that into a w2g lobby, invite your friends, and start watching.
I've seen this mentality in other threads and I'll repeat it here - the smaller userbase makes me feel like my comments, thoughts and opinions are actually seen, that I don't type them out for nothing. I never interacted on reddit, but do a lot more so here.
Why would I? The list of communities which one wants to block is very personal / individual. My preferences what I don't want to engage with is purely mine and cannot be transferred to all other users. So any user should make their own decisions what communities they want to block, instead of blindly copying someone elses and potentially missing out on content they would enjoy.
Keep in mind you can always block communities you're not interested in to prevent them from appearing in any feed. I've already blocked plenty of communities to make the "All" post list digestable.
I've been searching for hours, but it appears r(u)Torrent doesn't have any onboard way to see this kind of all time stats 😕 maybe someone knows a trick how to get this data out?
an "SSD" can be either a SATA-cable connected 2.5" SSD, a M.2 SATA (protocol) SSD, or an M.2 PCIe SSD. their respective maximum R/W speed increases significantly in this order, so M.2 is not the only way to connect an SSD, at least not as long as cable-sata SSDs still exist.
it really isnt a stretch. as soon as the moderation team of the website doesnt care about, or even protects, the first malware infected torrent - none of the torrents can be trusted anymore.
i for one will not will not get torrents from 1337x anymore, unless I've been sent to a specific one from a trusted external source (like game repackers, who do host their torrents on 1337x from time to time). the risk is simply too high, and there are better sources for games and movies anyways,
as per lemmy.dbzer0.com/post/1585338, yes, its fairly easy to confirm. though there probably were multiple uploads for the game, of which only the one from "VitaminX" should be infected (unless others reuploaded that one as well).
at the end of the day, why bother with these weird reuploads and repacks from unknown nobodies. get your repacks from dodi and fitgirl who're comparatively trustworthy, and have been for many years. or skip the repack alltogether and get the DRM-free files from gog-games.
My main reason to use JD2 is it's great experience with multihosters and link lists. It automatically checks all hosters for a multilink and will down load each file from an available hoster. That's something a JD2 replacement would need to have, and (without having looked at the repo at all) I doubt that's been replicated within a year.
