  • Beautiful, comrade, I'm saving this one!

  • What do you use it for, genuinely?

I fail to see any use for these programs in my own research or for organizing data. Every time I've tried using these bots the information and specific context I am seeking is either regurgitated half-correct or showed in relevance to completely different topics (example being me asking GPT if "Marx ever write about "fake currency"" trying to see if it would bring up his writings on fictitious credit and it straight up told me "nah, he didn't" and then proceeded to give me instructions on improving my credit rating.

Deepseek is better, but still has some quirks of it's own. I just fail to see any use with them outside of coding.

  • Probably not too difficult from satellite. I wouldn't be surprised if there's a delay between reported weather and actual weather if it's just satellite with no ground telemetry.

I wouldn't be surprised if NK offered weather data publicly either. That kind of thing is important for shipping/trade.

  • Huh? It sounded like you were saying they were sanctioned for a reason because of supporting the resistance. I was saying they have every reason to support and fight against America and their dogs.

Unless you mean it in a "they were sanctioned because they were based" way, then I get it.

  • soft pow·er

    noun

a persuasive approach to international relations, typically involving the use of economic or cultural influence.

Everything I described falls under that, with their history of being the most level-headed economic player and growing more and more advanced by the day helps them out in their diplomacy. If you want an example that fits more of your definition, then I would point to the massive amount of brain-drain from the United States to China. I also mentioned productive forces. There is no misunderstanding here.

This is older and was before China was leading the top 20 academic journals. They aren't so weak when they are successfully draining and using their "soft-power" to attract the brightest minds to their nation. They would lose a lot of this if they were to directly intervene or deploy in Iran against the United States.

    This one is more recent.

  • Because it has every right to be that way?

"The number of Korean dead, injured or missing by war's end approached three million, ten percent of the overall population. The majority of those killed were in the North, which had half of the population of the South; although the DPRK does not have official figures, possibly twelve to fifteen percent of the population was killed in the war, a figure close to or surpassing the proportion of Soviet citizens killed in World War II...

Russian accusations of indiscriminate attacks on civilian targets did not register with the Americans at all. But for the North Koreans, living in fear of B-29 attacks for nearly three years, including the possibility of atomic bombs, the American air war left a deep and lasting impression. The DPRK government never forgot the lesson of North Korea's vulnerability to American air attack, and for half a century after the Armistice continued to strengthen anti-aircraft defenses, build underground installations, and eventually develop nuclear weapons to ensure that North Korea would not find itself in such a position again... The war against the United States, more than any other single factor, gave North Koreans a collective sense of anxiety and fear of outside threats that would continue long after the war's end."

Contractor: "Excuse me, I don't mean to interrupt, but what are you two talking about?"

Randal: "Ending of Return of the Jedi."

Dante: "My friend here is trying to convince me that any independent contractor that was working on the death star were innocent victims when they was destroyed by the rebels."

Contractor: "Well, I'm a contractor, roofer; home n' ready improvements and speaking as a roofer I can tell you a roofer's personal politics comes into play heavily when choosing jobs."

    Randal: "Like when?"

Contractor: "Three months ago I was offered a job up in the hills. A beautiful house with tons of property. It was a simple reshingling job, but I was told that if it was finished within a day, my price would be doubled. Then I realized whose house it was."

    Dante: "Whose house was it?"

    Contractor: "Dominick Bambino's."

    Randal: ""Babyface" Bambino? The gangster?"

Contractor: "The same. The money was right, but the risk was too big. I knew who he was, and based on that, I passed the job on to a friend of mine."

    Dante: "Based on personal politics."

Contractor: "Right. And that week, the Foresci family put a hit on Babyface's house. My friend was shot and killed. He wasn't even finished shingling."

    Randal: "No way!"

Contractor: "I'm alive because I knew there were risks involved taking on that particular client. My friend wasn't so lucky...You know, any contractor willing to work on that Death Star knew the risks. If they were killed, it was their own fault. A roofer listens to this... (taps his heart) not his wallet."

  • They're most likely giving them everything they can plus intelligence support. Exposing that to the public or diplomatically threatens a significant chunk of soft-power they can continue to use.

  • news megathread be like:

"China why wont you nuke your entire soft-power to stop the overstretch of the American regime when it's gonna do what it does regardless?"

  • Don't take that as an anti-union btw. The propaganda of "captured unions" is genuinely real and depressing here. When I worked at a grocery store that was unionized the union-leader was banging the bosses' daughter. That's not a fault of unions though, for some fucking strange reason nearly every business owner and higher-up here is related and nepotism shenanigans is constant.

It's why I do what I do because there isn't business forum ghouls haunting the field of work I'm in. (At least ones related to the local oligarchs.)

  • They're decent, but most of them pay pretty low for an apprenticeship at least in my area. I can land some pretty decent gigs doing what I do I just gotta wait for a while. Otherwise I'm happy to be living off the slip.

  • Am now unemployed and as of tomorrow have to claim unemployment. Easy bag, thankfully, as the job I had pretty much completely shut down and is currently being stripped of everything. I had a feeling it was coming with bulletins straight up being like "yeah we made almost no money this week".

Thankfully they didn't give me any grief and just handed me the pink slip. Not looking forward to eventually having to find a job but I am going to milk unemployment for as long as I can because that's what we do as a dirty commie.

What's gonna enrage me is having 10+ years of experience in maintenance, aptitude with multiple tools and fields of work such as HVAC, plumbing, low-voltage certifications and more is gonna get shit on by some dumpy-ass HR-hire that did a year in some TikTok business administration school that then tries to offer me minimum wage to which then I can literally tell them to go fuck themselves.

  • How would I write a substack and publish it on local journalist circles that a total nuclear annihilation of Israel is statistically the best option for world peace and a third Obama term to convince liberals?

  • I have...converted a liberal.

Literally all it took was reinforcing in their head they are not independent of material conditions. they kept thinking just because they think of a piece of their personality outside of their relaton to production that gommmunism doesn't apply.

Good lord was it a struggle. I have another comrade!

  • I've had to do this before, so It's not exactly unprecedented but I'm just happy I can get it out.

  • Memes @lemmy.ml

    He got a letter!
