  • Bonus bonus: a blue whale’s throat is so small it could choke to death on a grapefruit.

I'm sure their throat can be blocked that way; but if they can't breathe through their mouth anyway, is it actually choking? Or just terminally blocked?

  • Thing is, he could still hire people who do know how to do that - he just doesn't see the point. Like the person who refuses to hire an electrician instead of just doing it himself, he keeps getting it wrong and then being shocked.

  • I think a lot of resistance to this is most people want their kids to be comfortable, and it's a lot harder to make sure that everyone is comfortable than just making sure what you have can be transformed into keeping your kids in a good spot.

  • None of that means there shouldn't be an equal process, just that there isn't one at present. I think you both are completely correct, the challenge is how do we reach a society that can hold someone accountable, no matter what their wealth level? Alternatively, how do we prevent someone from becoming so wealthy they suborn society?

  • I think relative harm factors in too. Decimating someone's resources when they're likely to struggle to feed themselves next month? Or course that's reprehensible. Taking a tiny portion from someone who won't even notice, especially when you'll probably get a lot more out of it? Now you're practically Robin Hood

  • Per the article, he's been taking classes remotely since the fall? Was trying to figure out if he'd arrived safely, but I'm not clear if he's giving up on being able to return safely, or stay here safely.

  • One of my players feels this way too, and has a semi-charismatic character. He'll describe what he's trying to do, we roll for how well it landed, and we quickly work out the highlights of what happened.

  • I haven't played a lot of other RPGs, but GURPS is one of my faves - I didn't realize the turns went quickly compared to other systems!

Shadowrun can drag though - I felt guilty as a rigger unleashing my drones, didn't realize when I set them up I'd be monopolizing combat time the way I did...
