  • Gmail as in email client? Thunderbird

Anti virus? Just need common sense. Dont visit shady site and download random executable

Windows? Try linux mint if this your first time. I heard PopOS is good if you play games.

  • Depends on your threat model. If youre an average joe, and your threat model just want to avoid big tech and prolong your device suppport. eOS is great. People just need to have some common sense which is not installing random apk and what not.

  • Ive been a long term windows user. Almost 80% of my life. Tried macos and linux but always went to windows. Last year, i decided to move away from big tech in general. Ive moved away from most of it except windows, which is windows 10 LTSC. I tried ubuntu, kubuntu, fedora gnome, fedora kde, kde neon, arch (failed hard), arctix, endeavour and lastly i settled with linux mint cinnamon. A couple of tweak and a few hours. It feels like home. Goodbye windows, you will not be missed. I do dualboot windows 10 whenever i need to use program that only support windows.

  • I really want to buy it again but im kinda bummed out by the QC. I bought a new LCD model when the OLED came out. Not even a day, i noticed the trackpad has different intensity between left and right. and the shoulder button is the worse, the right one has weird double click and has longer travel. Returned it right away. The problem is, its not released in my country so i had to buy off 3rd party seller and i was lucky i can return it. Wouldnt want my new deck already opened and repaired on the first day.

A couple of months later i bought another one and guess what. Same problem. After reading around it is actually common problem for the shoulder button.

  • Im not really sure about the update part but Moxie himself is hesitant to release it outside of play store and signal website. Even GOS dev isnt really a fan of fdroid from what i read at GOS forum.

It really depends on youe threat model. What im trying to say is, if youre really want to make sure. Download from signal website and let the app update it self next time. No middle man.
