  • They don't need notepad for that. They control your entire OS, and all inputs. All they need to do, is capture all inputs (which they already do and package it all nicely as Recall). They're using notepad as just a user-facing justification for the spying they do throughout the rest of the OS.

  • Counterpoint:

    In 3.5 years, Notepad.exe has gone from β€œperfect text-only editor” to β€œai-laden spyware/malware”

  • Wait. Those things rely on visual sensors only?? That moronic! I mean, more so that I originally though. Please tell me that they have them, but this particular one was malfunctioning.

  • 100%. And companies don't seem to realize this. I'll use fakespot, but there is absolutely no use for it to be an inbrowser app, and the fact that it suggests (pushes) the idea each time I use the website is just maddening. That said, I appreciate that service.

Pocket can stay or leave. I don't care one way or the other. I never understood its usecase.

  • Except, unlike the real babble fish that feed on our thought waves, this one feeds on our environment and our planet's future.

  • UBO just blocks most of those scams without the use of any "AI", but Google's Manifest v3 prevents UBO from running on Chrome...

  • That's not the same as recording the call. Once the call is transferred, it is expected for the bot to stop listening, unless it state that it's part of the call (which it doesn't).

  • Who? Google? Google won't even get slapped on the wrists. I'm talking about the users using this (unwittingly or otherwise, the law doesn't care). Even if they don't care about the privacy implications nor the abuse of the tech, they are opening themselves up for some serious liabilities.
