Bill Burr Says Stop Blaming Immigrants, Blame Billionaires | SubwayTakes Uncut
I keep hearing about the search for a liberal Rogan. But that person existed for a long time, we are just to busy talking about Rogan to see it.
Stop blaming each other. The ones we should be blaming are the mega wealthy.
No war but class war
Exactly, all the major social conflicts are fueled by a few very powerful people to distract us from going after them.
"Bill Burr blurts 'Blame Billionaires!'"
Nice alliteration.
I’ve listened to Bill for decades. He’s a good guy to get advice from. He’s also a fucking but bag sometimes. But who isn’t a little nuts.
Bill is a class act. One of the best living comedians.
I enjoy his talk show appearances, but his stand up is needlessly aggressive.
He's from the Boston area. We are all needlessly aggressive.
Did you see the clips of him roasting the Philadelphia crowd for booing the openers for whatever show that was?
Sometimes a little aggression works.
His most recent one was making fun of that very fact about himself. I think its safe to say hes aware.
Bill Burr is great and I don't think I've ever met a guy who didn't like him. Good politics too, and says them like a normal fucking person who can make a case without being annoying.
I mean, his “stop being a pussy, stupid millennials” schtick is pretty annoying. We get it, you drank from a garden hose and came home when the streetlights turned on. You’re so cool
He's gotten better about that, and usually realizes halfway through a rant when he's doing it, and shifts it to making fun of himself for being a cliche
Wait, I'm a millennial and also drank from a garden hose and came home when the streetlights turned on... What does that mean for me?
At this point, millennials mention the garden hose shit more than gen x ever did, and are more annoying about it. Source: am millennial, have seen people make these same exact tired comments for over a decade now
Some idiots on the right think bill bur is in the middle, how many times does he have to say fuck trump for those morons to understand. He deff not a establishment dem but he is deff a progressive
I think they say that because he portrays himself angrily, and people on the right can really relate to that.
"She went on ESPN and said 'I don't understand why female athletes don't make as much as male athletes' and all these men had to sit there pretending to be dumbfounded. I'm sitting at home screaming at the TV 'BECAUSE YOU DON'T SELL ANY FUCKING TICKETS!'"
--Bill Burr.
Not exactly a bastion of blue haired "My pronouns are emdash/interrobang" leftism, is he?
Reminds me a bit of George Carlin, especially in his later years. George Carlin once did a bit about groups of people he would like to see killed in various ways, to include gun enthusiasts, helicopter parents and people who made small purchases on a credit card.
He might appear to be in the middle, because he also goes after Democrats. And while they might not be nearly as bad as the party of American fascists, Democrats are very far from being perfect. They have at most a handful of decent high profile people. Bill Burr is just reasonable and calls out assholes, no matter their affiliation.
As someone who listens to his podcast regularly, he's a borderline socialist at this point, but he has blinders on when it comes to "both sides" bullshit.
It's probably because he doesn't want to alienate half of his audience, which I get. But it's super frustrating to hear because he's right there.
Bill is a real American. I like that he's so anti-racist.
He married a black woman. You should hear his stand up talking about going to her place in Harlem. lol
If they ask Bill, which the media does, he'll tell you, "Why the fuck are you asking me?" He knows his political views are and should be meaningless. He's a comedian. The news media is responsible for the mess we're in, stop asking comedians what they think and stop white washing fascism.
I don't really understand this sentiment. No one is asking him to run for office. He's an American citizen and he has a huge platform to speak on. Of course his political views have merit. You don't have to be a political science major to talk politics. This comment section is proof of that. Obviously he is only one person and no one should be informing theirselves soley in what he has to say, but like anyone else his words aren't meaningless.
not all anti-trump people are progressive. plenty of center and right-leaning folks say fuck trump. not enough, but plenty.
also it’s not even progressive to say “don’t blame immigrants”. that’s just basic humanity and not letting republican fear mongering drive you rabid.
Its not the immigrants that are the problem, its the system propped up on abusing groups that have less rights than others. Dressing it up as a humanitarian concern is a distraction from the real problem. The focus should be on companies who abuse employees.
In terms of right and left he's pretty much the center. American "centrists" are actually right wingers in other countries. Heck, even the Dems who consider themselves leftists are actually on the right.
True. What most Americans consider progressive is even center in most European countries. Like, universal public healthcare might be progressive for Americans, but even center-right parties in the EU aren't against that
Because Bill says enough crap that aligns with right wing views that they skip the rest.
And there's so many selectively edited clips of him out there. He actually brings that up in OP's clip.
With how often he's punches down on transgender people, he's definitely not a progressive.
Everyone says that, not just Burr
Unfortunately, not everyone and not nearly enough.
Not everyone on TV, though.
I blame billionaires for supporting the mass import of immigrants to line their own pockets at everyone's expense.
it’s not at our expense. illegal immigrants do the jobs we don’t want to do anyway, and they contribute more to the economy than they take from it. (edit: [1] [2] [3] [4] [5] [6])
blame the billionaires for using 24 hour news and social media to misdirect people’s anger with bigotry and fear mongering.
they contribute more to the economy than they take from it
They even help prop up Social Security, since they pay into it but can't ever collect on it.
jobs we don't want to do anyway
How about they pay decently for those jobs and provide decent working conditions and you'll have plenty of people who would want to do those jobs.
But no, we must take advantage of illegal immigrants because "nobody wants to do those jobs".
Ah yes the rich globalists want to import brown people. We should implement socialism for the white. Maybe we could call it zinasme or something. Sozial-nazionalisme.
Billionaires want you to hate immigrants and support criminalization of migration. That's what allows cheap labor, the threat of legal repercussion if they dare to speak up, and the racist stigma.
Beside, you're from a first world country, they gave you crumbles from colonisation, but that's still why you're richer than some guy from africa. How dare you not give him the same opportunity as you?
Let people live where they want to live, idiot
This regime whore picking the pleb side haha
good for him, fuck these geriatric nepo baby pedos.
It's weird, I don't know if Bill Burr has ever made jokes that took it too far. Definitely a couple bad takes, tho. Reason it is weird is because I have an inherent distrust of Bill Burr, just can't place why.
Maybe because he's been on Rogan's podcast? To be fair he's one of the few to have called him out.
"I'm not gonna sit here with no medical degree, listening to you with no medical degree" 👏
My distrust comes from the ever-present possibility that his public persona is an act, because it's Hollywood. Outside of that, the dude has always come off genuine and comes from a place of good faith. I would absolutely consider him more an ally than enemy.
The only thing I can remember is that he had some bad takes about cancel culture. It was pretty minor and he’s been great otherwise.
There's no such thing as cancel culture, it's celebrities being angry that they have repercussions for being shitty people. I think his frustration was with the fact that you can make one mistake and or have one quote taken out of context and people will define you based on that.
He said "You can't take one incident or one quote and say, 'That's who you are.' It took me 50 years to figure out who I am and I've been with me for 50 fucking years. How are you gonna figure out who I am in a joke?”
This isn't a quote in support of Dave Chappelle of Roseanne Barr who have made careers of being assholes.
My first thought was the whole 'broken clock right twice per day' spiel, but then I had the same epiphany.
Yeah that guy's a piece of shit --> wait, he's a piece of shit right? --> ...I can't remember why I think he's a piece of shit... am I confusing him with someone else??
Seeing your post, there's some Mandela shit going on here.
Bill Burr has been saying a lot of 'woke' things lately, and I'm here for it.
Lately?
That's a classic clip.
