Deerhoof did not want its music ‘funding AI battle tech’ — so it ditched Spotify

Not familiar with Deerhoof at all but I've been toying with the idea of getting rid of Spotify myself lately. It's cheap and easy and I use it a lot but it's feeling more and more unethical.
- I've been happy with Bandcamp, though they got sold so they're no longer independent.
  But the model is you can stream for free however many times the artist has it set to, and then you're expected to buy it. Once you buy it, its yours DRM-free forever.
  So if you buy an album or two a month, it costs similar to a subscription but you build up a library. After a while, you might find there are months you don't buy anything, but just listen to what you already bought.

Weird, I was listening to them on Spotify a couple weeks ago.
No offense, but they aren’t exactly a big deal. Unless you’re super into the 90s/00s noise rock scene ig
- One doesn't have to be a big deal to stand up for what they believe in.
  
  I can stand up for what I believe in. Does that mean I should be written about in a major news outlet?
- I haven’t listened to much but Life is Suffering by them is pretty good imo
