With some prominent Democrats and liberal pundits arguing for the party to try to win Elon Musk back to its side, you have to ask: Is American politics simply a matter of who can best kiss the ass of narcissistic reactionary billionaires?
It’s so embarrassing to watch democrats constantly groveling for money.
It’s telling that the leaked audio of the DNC vice president fracas had the establishment guy (Mike Miquetoast or something) whine to David Hogg that he wanted to get back to the real business of fundraising.
The real hard work done in government. The real actual change in the world. The real benefit to the country at large.
FUNDRAISING
With him leaving the way he did literally nobody in the country likes this man and aiding with him in any way is political suicide.
We should make sure his life is a living hell at any post he moves to. Make sure anything he touches fails just like Tesla and make sure he can't have any more kids.

The thing that shocked me... I was fully expecting that kind of BS ideas from say Jeffries, Schumer, Newsome etc....
But then looking at it the one I've seen talking about it was... Ro Khanna, which was one I considered in the "overall tollerable" side of the democrats.
This illustrates the issue of having only 2 political parties. You used to have left and right. Then the right extended all the way to batshit crazy nazi while losing touch with the centre-right, and it collapsed to keep only t̂he nazis. Meanwhile the "left" extended to centre then all the way to the economic right.
Now you have a nazi party and an everything else party, and people ask the last to "get their shit together", as if socialists would sort out their differences with neo-liberals and conservatives over a quick diner and build a common ground plan.
That just can't work.
It also accentuates the need for ranked choice voting or something similar. You need to give a people a way to say what they want to say with nuance and power. If everyone says they wish they could vote for someone else but need to vote strategically then parties never need to be good and can just thump on about defeating the evil party.

I misread the headline and thought it was a cautionary statement, explaining that elon musk was going around "woo-ing" at people, and you should (under no circumstances) "woo" back.

He could be a useful tool too disassemble the corrupted administration. We just lack a sufficient craftsman to wield him, and sufficient balls to dispose of him afterwards.
I hope he actually does create another party and split the Republicans, ensuring that none of them win another election ever again.
Be careful, Hillary tried to create an easy opponent too. If we've learned anything from 2024, it's that desperate people will vote for any change. Even if that change is bad.
The whole bifurcated party thing cuts both ways though. The vast majority of the even slightly progressive people are sick and tired of the Democrats handholding with the Republicans only narrowly being the least appetizing item on the menu. There's nobody standing for the people. Everybody's standing for the oligarchs. I'm not saying I would vote Republican ever, But we've got to be able to do something relatively better than whatever this is we're doing now.
The Republicans would split on fiscal versus "morals". Immorally progressive fiscally conservative party to rapillase the publicans might draw a number of the wealthy Democrats with it.
There are other countries out there that do a better job. And it's quite clear now that our Constitution does not have the teeth It was designed to have.

From the DNC’s perspective: yes, yes it is.
It would be far better for the Pelosis, Fettermans and Newsoms to have photo-ops with a 8647-cap-wearing Musk and talk about tax cuts and deregulation and shiny crypto AI sci-fi futures, and to keep rolling in cash from billionaires expecting to see their good fortune continue, than to be forced to heed the views of the AOCs and alienate their sponsors. This way, at least the gravy train keeps rolling.
I can’t remember where but there was specifically a complaint by a DNC person that the people were donating more money than the corporations were. Like, it’s not even the money, they just want the excuse to keep being shitty.

Money doesn't win elections alone. But it's like 90% of what it takes to win. A politician spends most of their year canvassing for funds. That is why Washington is majority call centers for these politicians. Look it up. It has the most call centers per capita because they all cold call donors for funding.
The left needs content. Content creators need funding. People don't win elections. Money wins elections. If money didn't win elections, the deliverables Democrats would have a higher success rate. The left is circling the drain. It's not the 1900s anymore. A political group made up of poor angry young people isn't going to be able to punch as hard against the authoritarian forces that exist today. You can't just freak out and burn cities. You need subversion and better strategy. It all costs money. The left on all fronts has lost. There's no coming back especially with the awareness some of them have.
