If the hole in your needle is that large, you don't need this lame trick. It would be a pita to try and do this with most needles.

At that point, you can just hold the thread in your teeth and jump through the needle!

For large loop needles?
Here's the real sauce: Hold the thread still and bring the needle to it. Most people who struggle are trying to poke the thread through the needle.
