Starsector, one of the best space RPGs that's not on Steam had a huge update

i bought this game so long ago, and i keep forgetting i own it until something like this pops up like once every couple years.
- I just learned of it today and was checking out their dev blog and it went back to 2011??? That's crazy.
Legendary game, only thing that comes close to M&B Warband as a sandbox IMO (shoutouts to Daggerfall)
- You ever play X3? That's what I've considered to be the Warband of space games for a long while.
  
  I couldn't get into it, but I do have several dozen hours on X4 :)

  If it's even close to M&B or Daggerfall my upcoming summer break is in trouble.
I'm guessing one of the reasons it's not in Steam is that it depends on Java to run? I don't recall every having a Java based game on Steam

  Oh my, you're right! I thought it's in unity, because of their later strong stance against it. Maybe PC version is in Java and some of the ports in Unity?
- Mindustry is on steam
- Can't see a problem with Java on Steam as long as you bundle the runtime and not depend on linking to it
  
  It would be very very arbitrary of Steam to bar a game based on the language it’s written on.
- Why would that be the first reason you came up with and not the fact that steam takes a ridiculous 30% cut from dev's work? And yes, the game is that good, so good they can tell steam to fuck off. Makes me like the game even more..
