If I was the one being set up to be legally responsible for this clusterfuck, I'd want to be out of the country too.
She's just a figurehead anyway.
Did they even give her a heads up that she was getting the job?

So this whole department is very ridiculous and shouldn't exist, but sometimes you have vacation plans before you get a new job and the new job honours them which is fine.
