💚 right here with you. I'm glad that over the years, the very unreasonable pestering from other people to try and reconnect to my father (who still pretends that he did nothing wrong), as some kind of show of womanly magnanimity and spiritual development to prove myself worthy, has faded away.
- Uggh, I hate those 'but faaaamily' types.
- I feel that. I let go of the guilt a long time ago. In my culture the son is supposed to look after their parents in their old ages.
  Mum passed away when I was in high school and I haven't seen the old man since.
  And am grateful I haven't. It wouldn't be good for either of us.

Oh Gawd Cennalink strikes again. Just got a text to day that I have an appointment with a DES agency tomorrow for an interview re: getting work.
Fortunately I'm able to go and quite willing to discuss strategies so I can hit the ground running when I am fit to start working, but isn't it fucking typical?

- Plus I've got a medical certificate until the 21st. facepalm. From experience I suspect wires have been crossed somewhere.
They keep delaying the processing of my application but I was still supposed to earn 100 points for no health care card and no money. I didn't do it. It's almost a month late now.

Just quietly... I think I want to be out of Victoria by next winter. I need a break. Either a permanent move interstate, or move all my stuff into storage and go travel for 3 months. I could go to the US and travel with/stay with my brother on the cheap. Finally go on a road trip now that I've got my licence and enough driving experience/confidence.

Maybe do some state hopping, you might find somewhere you really enjoy.
- I've lived in Perth and Brisbane before and wouldn't mind going back for a stint depending on work and cost of living. Helps that I have closer family in both places but not in melbs

Flails around subconsciously for days and then when I finally sit down in the right frame of mind, the solution comes to me in a brilliant stroke and a relatively simple SQL query pulls everything together. Fuck yeah SQL saving me from doing this shit the hard way, or god forbid, having to learn an actual programming language

The birds have been hard at work cracking snails on my roof this morning, and while I'm awake and working anyway it's in its 3rd hour and beginning to get a little annoying.

- One is dead. The other was dazed and confused for a bit, but then wobbled away. Don't like its chances. Nature's way can be pretty horrible.

Melbourne road today:

In the Melbourne CBD, on Lonsdale St with the 90º median parking. Two people on opposite sides pulled halfway into a spot, blocking a lane in each direction, including some cops in a marked car.

Lights come on and three cops got out of the car, the driver was like ¯(ツ)_/¯ arms up high and kicked them both out of the parking spot, then went about their day moments later.

The car that was in front of me / behind the cops then promptly took that spot.

Well the sleep-in gods denied me the zzzs this morning, so finished some laundry and drank all the required Hydralite. I’m washed and dressed and awaiting company to revel in this sunshine.

Going to write stern but fairly worded letter to Geelong council about a very bright street light they've installed. Honestly 3 x the lumens of a normal street light and it's on a road that has next to zero (0) traffic.

It is also next to an area has a heap of active frogs (when weather permits). Insects are going to head towards the light.

It will go a little something like this:

- Fully agree.
  There was a movement a while ago trying to get buildings and advertising etc. to shield lights and point them down towards the ground but it fell on deaf ears.
  I truly believe shitty lighting is contributing to insect decline (and all that rely on them).
You might need a map to point out the problem light. Preferably a hand drawn one with a big red circle and arrows.

Feels nice to feel like I'm in a position of power in requesting a raise at work. While it would be nice if they meet my request (~10% increase), I'm actually feeling okay to put my money where my mouth is and start actively applying elsewhere. They would be silly to let me go for this amount, but I wouldn't put it past them.

Probably shouldn't have but I've picked up a 1970s collected edition of E.M Foster's early works (Howard's End, Room wiith a View, A Passage to India, Where Angel's Fear to Tread, The Longest Journey). I only went in looking for a copy of Howard's End because I couldn't find my old copy, which knowing me I probably just gave away without a thought to get it back.

Nice. 👍 A Passage to India is such a prescient book. ( Fielding is the modern 20th C international person )

My cat decided to let me sleep in till 5.15 today the little champ. Logged into my friends little minecraft server and they'd built a little party setup for one of the players. it was pretty amazing, it must have taken them ages. nice way to start what is looking to be another beautiful day. happy sunday everyone.

After a week and a half of holidaying and partying, I found out on Thursday I have an ear and chest infection and still recovering while loaded up on antibiotics so very quiet today.

Went out for a bit of a walk but not feeling like doing much so did a little cooking and catching up on TV shows, although I can't believe Wheel of Time got a second season...

I've also started reading The Zen of Cat as a whimsical but good book as I've noticed I'm getting stressed over trivial shit too.

I just laughingly apologised to my son for not having a father's day anymore. He was the first person I told I'm trans and he's been calling me mum ever since. I'm beat. Slept in a bit, went to bed early, had two hours chilling in bed with the cats and done sweet fa.

Quiet day here, but we're beating reddit. I don't see any of the old DT crew much at all anymore. I guess they're dialoguing somewhere else.

I watch The Traitors for that reason.
- Sometimes I listen to right wing/conservative experts and pundits to try to figure why they are popular and to hear what shit they are saying.
  I also don't want to be in an echo chamber.
  I found that the right wing change how they speak according to the audience, when they are talking to normal media they sound quite reasonable, once they talk to people they think are sympathetic they show their true racist or sexist colours
  Reasonable people don't change what they say, they have nothing to hide.

B Sharp Big Band was good, swing music is much better when consumed live rather than via recording.

Dancing, singing, mingling with the oldies - perfect Sunday with Dad.

Edit: also Wilbur Wilde turned up, did a few Sax songs and then launched into a jazz cover of Wonderwall - that song has never sounded better, and it was epic to see Wilbur live!!

- Wow I must be really out of touch! When I lived in St Kilda in the mid-late 80s to mid-late 90s St Kilda was full of artists, queers, queens, all kinds of "alternative" types of people. It was starting to get gentrified when I moved out of there after a relationship breakup. Haven't really been back.

I was in luck at the food cupboard - today's bakery selection included a herb foccaccia. A few pieces in the freezer, and a few pieces in my stomach.

I also filched a section of pipe offcut from the building site over the road. A few more and I will have enough to do a planter section in them along the side of the house, which should help to both add interest by including different heights and raise them up a bit to give a few extra minutes of sunshine which is in short supply in that area.
