Police in Ohio fatally shot a pregnant shoplifting suspect

Police in a Columbus suburb fatally shot a pregnant woman in an Ohio supermarket parking lot after she accelerated her car toward an officer, police officials said.

Ta’Kiya Young, 21, of Columbus, died Thursday evening in Blendon.

So they’re being charged with two counts of murder because conservatives have consistently ruled that fetuses are people, right? They killed an innocent person by killing the mother. Even if the mother was guilty, the baby was innocent.
Oh wait, they only want those rules to oppress women, not to oppress the oppressors.
- This was also demonstrated when a decision came up saying a fetus couldn't be claimed as a tax credit. Rules for thee, not for me.
- Why would they be charged at all? She was attempting to murder the cop.
  
  It was a joke about how conservatives are anti-abortion to the point of charging miscarrying mothers with murder, while simultaneously being okay with cops killing a pregnant woman.

I'm not picking a side because police have a history of lying.
Remember the time cops save a wandering 2yo and did a photo op, only for the public go discover the cops kidnapped that child earlier from their mom?
- I am picking a side for the same reason.
- Oh, you can pick a side. 😅 Literally all recent cases I can think of where this scenario played out (in France), recordings have come up not long after proving the officers were lying. The officers were never in danger, they were just looking for an excuse to murder racialized people. Not really a stretch to surmise this is the case here. Heartbreaking.
She charged the cop in her car! Of course they are going to shoot! What the hell was she thinking? Cops didn't shoot a shoplifter, they shot a murderer mid murder attempt.

- Yes, I agree with this. I also want to see the video because sometimes what a cop calls charging isn't how I would use the word. But until I see otherwise, this sounds like a reasonable response.
- Maybe, get out of the way? Like police officers in civilised societies?
  If a car is going fast enough to endanger you, killing the driver will not stop the car.
  
  Personally, the first thing I'd do if a car was moving dangerously fast toward me is to stand still, draw my weapon, and fire at it.
  
  Are you really defending a person charging a car towards another person?
- Who says she charged at the cops? The cops that murdered her? Cops lie in their statements every single day. Double lies if they killed someone. A hungry, pregnant mother lifting food isn't gonna suicide herself and baby like that, makes no sense

- Call me crazy, but if I had a car coming right at me I'd be diving out of the way of it, not continuing to stand in the path of the car to try to shoot the driver in the off chance that that doesn't cause them to entirely lose control of the vehicle that coming right at me
  
  In a self defense situation we all might react differently.
