  • No.

    1. I don't like responsibility because I take it really seriously.
    2. I try to minimize the must-do things after work.
    3. Perhaps most important I generally don't feel any compelling reason to have any.
  • Automation Engineer. Everyone of our customers have half their workforce on vacation and they will delay any non urgent work for when they are back.

So my job turns into cleaning the workshop and waiting for a thunderstorm to zap something expensive and send spare parts.

  • Just to be sure, annual performance is way more important than the cumulative index performance - net returns, right? Because here climate change is better than SRI.

You're trying to stay on the road by looking at the road in the rear view mirror. It's better than nothing because humans usually can't see forwards in time. My point is that you should not worry too much about that. It could be because people bought the stocks thinking that they would make more money in the future and 10 years later realized they will not and sell it to the next sucker. It could be that genuinely the companies do better. You don't know, I don't know.

What are you buying? An ETF usually buys a few stocks from a lot of companies that fit their profile.

What is a stock in a company? It is a tiny fraction of ownership in a company.

Now would you rather have a tiny ownership in the companies that one ETF buys or a tiny ownership in the others? If you don't know it does not matter.

As for buying in EUR or USD it depends. Tax rules can be different, that you will have to check. Since you use USD the EUR one is likely to change more, for the better or worse because the exchange rate will vary. Again 30 years noone knows how.

Don't mind Trump, your horizon is 30 years, does not matter if he gets a 3rd term even. He will be dead long before. Unless you think he will crash the economy utterly, but then why are you saving for the future and not buying guns, ammo and non perishable food?

  • C++ gives you enough rope to shoot yourself in the foot. If you did not know rope could do that you should have read the manual.

It's like a chainsaw with all the bells and whistles but all the safety features removed. Sure you can chop wood with it really fast and probably stone too if you #include diamondteeth library, you can even hammer in nails if you #include hammer. But you are alone responsible for your safety and it's probably not the best tool for any given job.

  • If you just keep it to the basic instrument drums probably.

If we are allowing it then a heavily distorted guitar tuned stupidly low. But is it the instrument or the various electronics that make the sound?

  • About 10% of women will have a very strict type and reject you outright. If you were 2m tall this would maybe shrink to 9%, so it's irrelevant.

90% will think maybe you're a bit short but will overlook your height if you're above average in some other area of personality or looks.

  • I can understand her hesitation if her parents are on the conservative side.

You live in a free country but until she is 18 the parents have a lot to say. Even after the age of 18 and moved away from home she has to consider their wishes or risk having her family refusing to have any contact.

  • Religion: yes. I gave up on religions at age 13-ish. Not before internet but well before internet became the opinion shaper that it is.

Politics came later. However I naturally gravitated towards reading blogs who's opinions resonated with me. I also found myself agreeing with some points and disagreeing with others points made by the same person.

I'm mostly voting for someone who has ideas that is most likely to improve my top 2-3 issues (and don't see me as the problem in society).

  • I've not measured it in any objective way, but here I got access to the same brands as before.

Premium stuff gets less shelf space in favor of cheap in economically trying times but I still find it.
