Maybe you know, but since 2016 whatsapp uses the same open-source encryption technology developed by the signal foundation. This means, on the one hand, that most user content is protected from facebook by encryption that it does not control, and on the other hand that the signal app (also made by the signal foundation) is a readily-available replacement for whatsapp when people are ready to switch.

I'm as intrigued and horrified as everyone else. Also, this is a good time to remind everyone that you can edit post titles on Lemmy, so you can correct the typo. Unless, for all utensil purposes, you meant it to be there.

Where is this cat jumping from? The counter? The woman in the back? The ceiling? And, where does this cat think its going? The camera was clearly out and in position before the jump (throw?!?). The only scenario that's vaguely plausible to me is that the woman in the back was holding the cat for a picture, and then it somehow got free/jumped, pushing her back behind the plant but still clearing the tulips. @robotdna@lemmy.world , do you have any more info about this?

I know it's early days, and this wasn't exactly something that could be planned for, but have you considered whether this community should be on a separate lemmy instance? What I mean is, it looks like the main motivation to reopen r/pop_os is to keep that content publicly available. But it shows the conflict of having that content on a platform that's not controlled by the Pop project, or its users, or S76. So far I don't imagine a conflict with the lemmy.world admin, but can that be guaranteed? Is there (at least planned) functionality for a whole community to move from one lemmy instance to another?
