(Linux users !) What was the first Linux distro that you used ?

  • Ubuntu as my shitty thinkpad with Windows XP lagged like hell. It was improvement, but geeks on the internet keep saying that Ubuntu is slow and bloated. This motivated me to distrohop and finally landed with Arch Linux. Prob 8+ years with this OS 😂

    Upvote-only system is bullshit and you also know it. How else would you motivate user to post a quality content? Karma should also exist for this exact reason.

    • Gaming PC - Dual boot Arch Linux and Windows 11. Arch for everything (literally) and Windows 11 for VR only. I even share the same Steam library between 2 OSes on separate SSD, formatted as btrfs.
    • Work laptop - Arch linux (because I can, we have strict managed-Windows system policy lol).
    • Personal laptop - Arch Linux.

    All of them using KDE.

  • I pirated it. No microtransactions, no online content, no accounts. Just start & play. <3

    If such features are available on Steam, I would probably buy it because it would be easier than pirating.

    I've been working as sre/sysadmin/devops for the past ~5 years and ~9 years of (Arch) Linux user. More than 1K Arch Wiki edits over that period of time.
