To be fair you can't really tell from his accent.

I just checked and it doesn't look like any contracts have been awarded yet. My tip is than none will be.

I'm fine with paying for a service I like and I did subscribe to reddit for many years. But even though I was a subscriber they cut off access to my apps. So screw them.

I understand that nothing's free so I plan to donate to lemmy.world to help them with their costs.

The ads/subscription support the developer, who works on this as his full time job. This means we get a better app.

Sync's ads can be turned off by paying a small fee.

I think that one's quietly being shelved as well. With the budget shortfall there's no way it could get funded.

"Personal reasons". If they continue to pry just say it's extemely personal and hopefully they'll back off.

That's the story they're selling but I don't think it really holds water. Sure, they'll have to remove the fitout and upgrade the plumbing and that costs money but no more than anyone would expect when building apartments. Some office buildings won't be suitable for residential use due to their shape and they obviously won't be converted but most are suitable and they'll be fine.

The business lobby pointing at the ones which are unsuitable and saying "but this whole thing is going to be impossible!" looks disingenuous to me. There are plenty of good options and there's no reason to expect they won't be converted.

Their wanting you in the office is about control - it's nothing to do with productivity or any of the other excuses.

Check your gutters to make sure they're clear and there's no standing water in them. It's easy to miss it up there.

I'm Australian and the one that really gets me is when Americans refer to indigenous Australians as "African American" because of their skin colour. They're in no way from Africa or America, but nice job appropriating our native people.
