  • Raymond: 82, 82, 82.

    Charlie: 82 what?

    Raymond: Bones.

Charlie: There's a lot more than 82 bones, Ray.

    Raymond: 246 total.

    Charlie: How many?

    Sally Dibbs: 250.

    Charlie: Pretty close.

Sally Dibbs: There's four left in the back.

  • I've had great success with being lazy and quitting early. I changed majors. I didn't stick with guitar because I didn't enjoy the practice itself, but I've been doing martial arts for over twenty years. Had a bunch of short relationships until I found the one that stuck. Every job has been better than the last because I knew a bunch of things I hated about the ones before to avoid and kept growing my skill set. Quitting something is great.

  • I gave up on the bard character's plotline (i was trying to do something like Mass Effect 2 where there was a main plot but everybody got a personal story as well) after the party just walked on by the third murdered musician in town. It was going to be a monkey's paw wish gone wrong where somebody wished to be the best musician around and that caused a super fan of the wisher to start murdering people so that the wisher was the only musician around (but still sucked at playing) and therefore technically the best around. I would have had the fan directly come after the bard next ala panel 4 but the bard player and the druid player broke up and the group dissolved.

  • HIPAA is a super vague standard on the tech side. PCI is much more specific and frankly better even though its meant for a different purpose and both were written by different types of entities. It may have changed since I worked with it, but one example I remember is HIPAA standards say to use a firewall. PCI standards say to use a firewall, document rules, review them quarterly with a formal process and separation of duties, and conduct external third party scans to look for vulnerabilities. I'm glad HIPAA is getting an update, but it could really use an overhaul.

  • Mods are one thing, users are another. Didn't the vegans leave because users kept coming in and ignoring community guidelines, then go around the mods to disregard the community guidelines not because they care about animals but because they don't like vegans? The dog pile was pretty gross from what I remember. None of the meta discussions focused on mod behavior; all of them were anti vegan circle jerks.

  • Ever if they're not scammers, there will be many like them that are. Many people will not know the difference (see ivermectin, homeopathy, the supplements industry, gerson therapy). I get that this is a desperate measure for people in desperate situations, but that's exactly the kind of mark a scammer wants. I hope they do some good, but I also expect tragedies and lots of them.
