  • Not really. All the services I use don't have ads, I can cancel at any time, and in total cost far less than regular old television. And then streaming, choosing what to watch when you want, is way better than watching whatever is on at the time.

People should just get two or three services for a household and switch when it's convenient.

Orrrr do what I do and run a Plex/Jellyfin server.

  • Smart watch. Great for notifications and telling me if I need to pull my phone out and reply or not, whether mid conversation, driving, cooking, etc. Also fitness tracker so I don't need my phone on a run.

I would never wear a dumb watch. I need my watch to do more than tell time.

  • You often need less heat than you think. Use oil. Pretty much everything should cook better in a stainless with a little bit of learning curve, except eggs.* Yes, even fish. Keep steel wool and barkeeper's friend handy for scrubbing them back to a shiny polish.

*Cook eggs in a non stick that you use for basically nothing but eggs.

  • Most religious holidays have already been moved people in three generations won't care. Most will appreciate the weekend adjacent scheduling. Things like the Fourth of July can just be Independence Day like it already is.

  • In Colorado, that has been my experience for over a decade. Food truck food was never cheap here. In Portland, just this year, I managed a few great and cheap meals from their food carts.
