I did, and this bitch (who's in a position of power over me) took my joking remark as an opportunity to say climate change is a hoax. He lives in Florida.

I was gonna joke that they must not have friends then, but that's actually a pretty common problem.

I'd rather hear "you're weird", even that's better than the immediate jump to "you're a bad person" that's more common.

const is more like C++ constexpr, but static is similar to static from C: it's a variable that lives outside any scope. Of course, that means the same static can be accessed by multiple threads, so writing to a static is unsafe (except for types like Mutex, you can safely use those to write, but your static won't be declared mut)

Parts of it seem to be inherently more secure, but there are some pretty glaring holes. At least software distribution is much more secure than the Windows approach.

How did you gather she's offended from that single message? I don't see any words suggesting that. Perhaps you're overly defensive right now, and one might say, offended that someone sees things differently to you.

Asides feel more natural to me than weaving it in though. As in, it's also easier for me to understand if someone uses asides.

You don't have to understand it, but you do have to accept it. That's not "haha, unless".

Gender's an overloaded term. Are you talking about the internal feeling, the way someone's treated by others, the shared sense of a variable that differentiates people, social institutions, ideas, or something else?

Those of course are all related very strongly, but they're not the same thing. Different models of gender will define of differently, but that's usually just to best fit the area they're applicable to. If a philosopher tells you gender is a social construct, that's because they're analyzing things through the lens of social construction. Very useful, but merely one perspective.
