Honestly, for personal use I just switched to straight Markdown that I edit with Vim (w/ Vimwiki plugin) or Markor on Android and synchronize with Syncthing. Simple, low effort, portable, does enough of what I need to get the job done.
And if I wanna publish a read-only copy online I can always use an SSG.
It has the benefit that the container can't start before the mount point is up without any additional scripts or kludges, so no race conditions or surprise behaviour. Using fstab alone can't provide that guarantee. The other option is Autofs but it's messier to configure and may not ship out of the box on modern distros.
Just use ActivityPub to publish blurbs and links to content available on your Ghost blog. Ghost supports subscriptions so you can then stand up a paywall when people click through.
Nothing about ActivityPub requires you syndicate full article content to the fedi. Hell my own blog doesn't do that, if only because Mastodon is not a good place for long-form content.
Blows my mind that none of these competing devices include touchpads. I swear half the games I play use the touchpads, whether it's FPS-style games or something like Rimworld or Gunpoint.
Absolutely you will. The right wing is deeply infected by these conspiracy theories. Hell, whole chunks of the UCP platform were inspired by them (see: the 15 minute city conspiracy, anti-trans policies, anti-vax policies, etc) thanks to the TBA nutjobs. Far better to know and understand it now, because the flywheel has only just started spinning up
Oh I never claimed these conspiracy theories are new. QAnon and related are just modern recycling of age old ideas, mixed and remixed with the speed of the internet. But they're conspiracy theories nevertheless.
Yeah there's a bug there AFAICT. Just go to the front page and use the login box in the right-hand sidebar rather than clicking the login link in the top bar.
Familiarize yourself with QAnon. The term "groomer" isn't being thrown around by accident. There is a large volume of right wing conspiracies centered on the idea that there's a left-wing cabal preying on children. Claiming members of the LGBT community are pedophiles is part of that horrifying tapestry.
I get that. I will say TE is pretty unique and the production values are off the charts. Meanwhile it's packed with modes, not to mention multiplayer options.
I'm not saying I'd pay full price for it, but at half price during the winter sale it was worth it, IMO.
If you don't like an ActivityPub participant you block it. It's in the architecture.
And given the current fediverse is already a tiny fraction of total social media activity, if a bunch of anti-Threads instances hive off to form their own fediverse subgroup, it'll basically be a no-op from their perspective. They'll just keep talking to each other off in a little corner by themselves just like they're doing today. That's kinda the whole damn point of a federated architecture.
Cool, so pick an instance that plans to defederate with them and you're golden.
Personally, I think all the anti-Threads stuff is paranoid rhetoric and I'd rather see how it pans out. My instance admin agrees so we'll see how it goes.
Point is you can choose because that's the entire point of the fediverse. And it's why I don't understand why folks are expending so much energy writing paranoid pieces on this topic when they could just defederate and move on.
