  • Dude I really feel your frustration on this one.

I've been a patient for many years due to chronic problems and I have learned that you have to advocate hard for yourself as a patient, even in the private system.

Doctors don't understand the patient experience, and they don't know (or sometimes care) that you had to drive interstate to see them. To them it's just a quick note to their secretary to book you in a week later. To you it's a week off work, a 9 hour drive, and money for accommodation etc.

Tell your story. Make them understand. Advocate. Repeatedly. Loudly. Continuously.

Ask questions and don't be satisfied with vague answers. Keep asking until you understand everything.

And treat them like they work for you, because they do.

  • Wow that's a lot

Even if you got elected on that platform, you'd be lucky if you could push even one of those things through in an entire political career, even if it's something popular that the people want.

It's a classic trap for the newly elected who promise the world and then realised that 99% of politics is horse trading and backdoor deals with beltway insiders

  • Look... Don't do it man. I know it seems like the only option but just think of your family. There's lots of people that love you and you have a lot to live for. Just put down the dishwasher and we can talk about it

  • It's not just about new housing though, it's also about fiscal policy which makes housing a more attractive investment vehicle through things like negative gearing and capital gains tax minimization than other things such as the stock market; the result is that prices are artificially inflated and you create a "renter class" who can no longer afford to buy, ever. Right now we're financing Boomers' retirements.

The question is, will the politicians have the political balls to fix it once the boomers have died off, or will they just let the profit roll on down through the generations, ultimately letting birth be the sole determiner of your societal class in life?
