  • Stand corrected, every motherboard I'd had experience with had it connected to a post buzzer.
Never thought there be a case where it wouldn't be included, as it was essential back then (I'm of the mind they still should, as well as power and activity leds, which seem to have disappeared from laptops)

  • That's 'dressed all round' what I'm assuming is finished milled. I'm a very amateur diyer - I'd imagine that if you went to a timber yard here they'd probably have a good idea what you were after. Just read online that most bulk wood is bought by the cubic metre, but all dimensioned wood is by the linear metre.

  • what's the metric equivalent of ordering "four-quarter" boards?

    We have a lot of standard sizes that seem to be based on imperial - 12mm (1/2inch), 16mm (5/8inch), 19mm (3/4inch), 32mm (5/4inch) etc.

If you're actually interested in taking a look, here's a link to the dressed timber section of Australia's hardware capital - Bunnings.

  • I'd argue that's just because you're more familiar with Fahrenheit (making the assumption you grew up with it).

Celsius is just as 'good' as anything, better if you consider that measuring temperature extends beyond human comfort ranges.

  • On the other hand, an argument for uniforms would be that they remove a whole raft of problems with grey areas.

Without a uniform, you'd need to have a policy about 'acceptable' clothing - profanity, slogans, sun safety, workplace safety etc which would all be up to interpretation by students and an administration.
And you know that students would push the boundaries, and the 'line' would be constantly redrawn every week.
How short is too short on sleeves? What words are inappropriate on shirts?

Uniforms remove this - you're either in the approved uniform, or you aren't.

  • Second the hybrid. I had a nice one - bronze face and the gold hands would move to indicate notification type etc. had some complications for step count etc. It looked great, I reckon it'd be even better with a small eink screen to show who the message was from etc. Kind of like the withings

  • Just a rant from me - every one of the videos in the 'breaking news' section of my YouTube is about this. No problem with that.

But every single one of those videos is from Sky News - we're talking 7 videos - and have a guess what they have to say about it!

How is that equitable YouTube? For reference, I don't think it's an algorithm thing because I never watch sky videos. Mainly ABC ones.

  • Is this as big an issue in other countries?

Here in Australia when you buy a gift card through the self checkout, a warning pops up about scams that you have to click ok through. There's also messages that come over the in-store radio warning about not paying with gift cards too.
