  • Thank you for this. I've been testing the Nine app for a week now and I am sold 👍 Some users do complain that the app "isn't as good as it used to be" - but luckily for me I don't know - and it's the best one I've seen anyway.

  • I would argue that anyone capable of dispassionately studying this subject can equally easily find that Elon Musk is not a reliable source of information (I'd dare say a liar) , eg:

    • the famous solar city presentation where Musk showcased several houses with solar tiles. The houses were a tv set for Desperate Hosewives, and tiles he was showing off simply didn't exist. That can't imagine a scenario where this could be an honest mistake.
    • the funding secured tweet from 2018 where he claimed he had enough money to take Tesla private at 420 USD / share. He got sued therefore we know he didn't - even remotly.

I don't know whether Elon is a genius or not - but when somebody, who is proven to be somewhat creative with the truth, also claims that he is a genius - specially in the "I know more about manufacturing than anyone else alive" manner - I don't think it is unreasonable to have doubts.

  • I don't know about sharing passwords, but I know that if you have an Exchange server on premises (meaning you have mailserver on your own infrastructure maybe somewhere in the building) because you don't want to have your data in the cloud - Outlook for mobile (both iOS and Android versions) has been sending all your data through M$ servers anyway, don't know for how long - quick search returned a 3 year old reference - imo much longer. There are "benefits" that I may be too dumb to understand:

On iOS you can go around and use the default "Mail.app". On Android I haven't found a good app that would work with EWS - I'm using K-9 over IMAP which isn't great.

  • Wow, I've never heard about "GIZCHINA". It definitely isn't gizmodo - right? 🤔 Right!

    • it is a Czech company with entire capital stock consisting of 4USD 😎 (cca 100 CZK)
    • the text is showing hight probability of AI generation. Which adult human being is going to write eg: " In this article, we will discuss the FAA report in detail, including the risks posed by falling satellites, the causes of these risks, and the potential solutions to mitigate them." 🤖
    • it does not say anything else than this - much more likely human written thing here - only the original is only 1/3 as long. That is IMO how come the AI Writing is literraly jumping out on you from the article. 😱

This is my least favourite century yet.

  • A wide range of issues: Pretty much everything from refusing to boot again to vertical stripes or other "objects" randomly running over the screen. It should be noted that it depends a lot on how you used your device. If you stay away from gaming / video editing or other sources of "constant load" - you may be fine. What kills the notebook is regular overheating...

  • A dirty linux admin here. Imagine you get ssh'd in nginx log folder and all you want to know are all the ips that have been beating againts certain URL in around last let's say last seven days and getting 429 most frequent first. In kittie script its like find -mtime -7 -name "*access*" -exec zgrep $some_damed_url {} \; | grep 429 | awk '{print $3}' | sort | uniq -c | sort -r | less depends on how y'r logs look (and I assume you've been managing them - that's where the zgrep comes from) should be run in tmux and could (should?) be written better 'n all - but my point is - do that for me in gui

    (I'm waiting ⏲)

  • For me the only reason to drive manual was becase automats used to be less effective. With current generation, the computer with its 12 gears is much more ecological then my macho hand lovingly stroking my cars stick can ever be..

  • Fast / Branded fashion - When I was at grammar school there were attempts at bullying kids not wearing branded clothes. Attempts - because those days I was not only year older and head higher than any of my peers but also one pissed off boy scout. They say violence does not solve anything - I say there are exceptions. I don't wear clothes with any form of visible branding or statement. No matter if it is NIKE or similar piece of crap or some brand no one ever heard of. My backpack is the model bundeswehr used to use till the late 80s - re-stitched so many times it is probably a totally unique piece of luggage by now. My jeans are de-branded levis or wornstar bootcuts with reinforced crotch (iron-on patches), my jackets are by Polish company Helicon Tex - they mostly supply to military / police - their models are brand less single color rugged simple and big on pockets. I love Source sandals and linen pants for summer. It should be noted that my occupation does not require me to look respectable - I look like a used fiver - and everybody loves me.
