Time regime change covers

  • I'd be so insulted right now if I had a shred of respect for you.

  • about you trying to equate sending UN peacekeepers with starting wars

  • China hasn't been at war since the 70s. That's a fact.

  • the result? It performed about as well as Meta's similarly sized Llama 2-7B from 2023.

  • Public opinion isn't likely going to matter all that much in this scenario. Recall, that 70% of the people voted to stay in USSR when a referendum was held. The political decision to dissolve the Soviet Union was made against the wish of the majority of the people. Similarly, I expect that the oligarchs running the US will exploit social tensions to Balkanize the country and create personal fiefdoms for themselves. Texas, California, and Florida are a few likely epicentres for this sort of Balkanization.

Ultimately, the mechanic here is that the decline in material conditions drives anxiety and political polarization which is in turn exploited by the the oligarchs and opportunists like Trump.

  • I think it's entirely possible that the US could break up the way USSR did. There is a growing political polarization within the society, and that's going to boil over sooner or later.

  • I have a hard time seeing how the Us is going to make it through even a single decade at this point.

  • Nvidia is producing the hardware that drive AI models, how these models are applied has little to do with the underlying hardware architecture that makes them possible.

  • Indeed, intellectual property laws exist to concentrate ownership and profit in the hands of corporations, not to protect individual artists. Disney’s ruthless copyright enforcement, for instance, sharply contrasts with its own history of mining public-domain stories. Meanwhile, OpenAI scraping data at scale, it exposes the hypocrisy of a system that privileges corporate IP hoarding over collective cultural wealth. Large corporations can ignore copyright without being held to account while regular people cannot. In practice, copyright helps capitalists far more than it help individual artists.

  • Exactly, unless it's a cooperative all I care about is my compensation.
