  • Idk, people are doing it already. Seems like this isn’t really a good reason.

You seem to be wondering why people aren't starting an "easy" coop. Have you ever owned and operated a business of any sort? Why not try it yourself instead of speculating how easy it is for people to start and run a cooperative business?

  • If you’re saying “money was too tempting”, then isn’t that an inherent flaw in any Marxist Leninist theory in practice?

HA, yes, yes it is. Marxist Leninist works most effectively when everyone is moralistic and considers the larger picture. It doesn't work when you have a world of selfish money grubbers. Notice which system is winning today?

I'd like to see you own a small business and get offered 10x its value by a large corp. Then you can see whether you want to maintain your praxis or retire on a nice beach somewhere the rest of your life.

  • Go price out the cost of 24/7 coverage for an individual and then think about the need to restrict your life to places that can be easily secured. These CEOs will be jumpy for a few weeks and then life will go on. I predict this is not going to be a trend. We aren't going to see 10+ CEOs shot a year. If I am wrong about that rate, then the rest of what I said would no longer be true. I believe this will be an isolated incident.

  • Absolutely! Who is making the decisions that lead to a mass loss of life? Not a random worker at the company.

I would argue anyone participating in the company, even someone washing the floors at night is helping to perpetuate it. Definitely not to the degree of the CEO, but every single worker there is helping to sustain the system.

  • Short answer: no.

One CEO getting shot is not going to change much. The American public's attention span is two weeks, if that. Another CEO in the endless line of corporate douchebags will take the spot of the murdered one and so on. All the lousy crap that led to our fucking useless health care system is still in place: CEOs with no heart/conscience, health industry lobbyists, spineless politicians for sale to the highest bidder.

For sure, this was an exceptional event, but it's not going to lead to any lasting change. Disagree with me? Post your prediction for what will change one year from now and let's see what happens. My guess is NOTHING.

  • If this was a conspiracy to benefit someone to become the next CEO, their shot certainly backfired. The next CEO will be under a massive public scrutiny and if UHC’s policies don’t change, he/she will certainly be the next target.

Actually, the shot backfired twice: every CEO is now under public scrutiny, as The Adjuster became a powerful symbol of the awakened feeling of “that’s enough” inside everyone who can see the corporation greed.

Ah, so you are an optimist. What changes to health insurance/health care do you believe will occur in the next year due to this? I believe in 2 weeks people will be bored and worried about something else, but I'd be curious to know what you foresee.

  • I have been following the news about Brian Thompson’s assassination in New York, and I am astounded by the flood of sympathy the media has poured out for him. Why?

Who do you think owns the media? Who's interests do they try to serve? It is not surprising at all that they would sympathize with him. We're not talking some punk zine put out by some gritty journalist. These are highly consolidated corporate news outlets, many of whom have boards of directors that share some strong similarity to UHC. It's profoundly unsurprising to me that they would sympathize with him, as they are a lot closer to a multi-million dollar CEO than your average Joe that gets their claims denied.

Insurance is irrelevant to the people that own and control much of our mass media, because they can easily pay out of pocket for any problems they have. All they see during this shooting is one of their own gunned down for "no reason".

  • It failed in the short term. We still have the whole remainder of USA history (whatever that ends up being). Despite what parties will have you believe, there is a life outside of the run up to the election and inauguration. There is also a Democrat presence at lower levels, for example, in the state and county contexts. I would prefer it if the whole world doesn't rush to emulate Trump in their approach to the world, as I don't think it's the best long term plan for our country.

Faith in promises made by presidents is at an all time low and I don't think we need to do more to further degrade that.

  • This is one of the reasons I hate talking in abstracts. I hear people talking about landslides, but what does that mean numerically? If there was a vote with a pool of 10 people and a candidate got 6 of those is that a landslide? Is 9/10 a landslide?

Some people talk "landslide" but without knowing what that means, it makes it hard to have a conversation.

  • Good decision. Trump and his gang promised all kinds of revenge. They don’t play by the rules. So it makes sense to do whatever for your last son.

I would hope those that oppose Trump do not just adopt all his behaviors.

  • Folks, listen closely, okay? Nobody understands tariffs better than me. Believe me, they’re tremendous, tremendous tariffs. And now Walmart – yes, Walmart, great company, big stores, huge – they’re telling you that YOU, the great American people, will be paying for these tariffs. And you know what? That’s fantastic news. Incredible. Let me tell you why.

First, it’s about sacrifice. The greatest country in the world doesn’t rise without its amazing, hardworking patriots chipping in a little bit more. And trust me, when you pay a little extra at Walmart for your cheap, uh, Made-in-China toasters, you’re not just buying a toaster. You’re buying FREEDOM, folks. You’re sticking it to the Chinese economy. No one else could get that deal done, okay? Only me.

Second, we’re BUILDING here, okay? When American families dig a little deeper into their pockets, that’s money going back into our economy. It’s like… MAGA economics, so smart you wouldn’t believe it. All of a sudden, Americans will say, "Hey, why am I buying Chinese stuff? Let’s buy American!" And BOOM – jobs. Factories humming. Steel, coal, maybe even wood, I don’t know. Beautiful stuff.

Third, let’s talk winning. When we pay these tariffs – our tariffs – we’re showing the world who’s boss. China thinks they’re so smart. So clever. Well, joke’s on them. We’re so good at tariffs, we’re making YOU pay them instead of them. Genius move, right? They won’t even know what hit them. Tremendous strategy. They’re probably shaking in Beijing.

And look, folks, I hear you. “But sir, sir, what about the prices?” And I say this: are you willing to pay a little more at Walmart to make America the GREATEST it’s ever been? I think you are. And if you’re not, then maybe you like China too much. Sad!

So remember, every time you spend a little extra at Walmart – and it’s a GREAT store, by the way, I love it, fantastic – just think of it as making a donation to America. To freedom. To ME – your favorite president – who is bringing the best tariffs, the best deals, and the best America you’ve ever seen.

God bless tariffs. God bless Walmart. And God bless the United States of America. MAGA!

  • Trump has his own unique flavor of terribleness, but I want to smash the illusion that his goals and aims are exactly the same as Hitler. If you really despise his vision so much, wouldn't you want to understand it and critique it as effectively as possible? I'm sick of seeing TRUMP IS HITLER because no matter how many times people say it, it's not an accurate claim. Call my quotes 'cherry picked' but they are REAL.

  • [Official KGB Statement]

We are shocked - SHOCKED! - to hear that our esteemed citizen, Vladimir Shklyarov, has taken his final bow on the great stage of life. We cannot stress enough that this was an honest and completely-not-at-all-intentional incident.

It appears (and we're not saying it's a coincidence at all) that Mr. Shklyarov was simply... um, reenacting a particularly rambunctious pas de deux with the building itself. Yes, you heard us right - he was doing a dance move so dramatic, so full of life, and so bereft of any actual physical control, that it could have been misinterpreted as an "accident" (we're sure).

We've spoken to his ex-wife, who claims he was trying to "dramatically" exit the apartment by stepping off the balcony (she's a bit of a drama queen herself, we hear). But we know the truth - he was simply on a mission to break the world record for most consecutive pirouettes in a single building.

The local reports of him being "trapped" in his apartment are, of course, completely fabricated. We're pretty sure it was just a... creative interpretation of the situation (wink, wink). And as for the painkillers? Oh no, those were just a bit of a... well, we won't mention that.

We'd like to remind everyone that in Russia, we have a saying: "The show must go on - and sometimes, it's better to let the curtains come crashing down." We're confident that Vladimir would have wanted it that way.

So, in light of this tragic... event (we'll get to the word 'tragic' later), we'd like to propose an official KGB investigation into the "unlucky" circumstances surrounding Mr. Shklyarov's passing. We're sure it will be a thorough and completely-not-at-all-biased inquiry.

  • ? The whole point was to show that in some very important areas, Trump is the polar opposite of Hitler.

Admittedly, I haven't read everything on Hitler, but I am not sure he weighed in on the 'eating the dogs' stuff, nor the Proud Boys. Please re-read my comment and let me know if I am understanding you properly.
