It's sad that running out the clock / speaking pointlessly is celebrated right now. How many tax dollars is it costing to have one fellow standing around going blah blah vs getting something done?

I realize this is like a protest but MAN it would be nice to just have a functional government.

Is this headline missing a few words? I am unclear what happened, even after reading the story. Some guy thought she was trans so she was fired? I feel like there is some missing information here.

Let's face it folks - those Navajo code talkers took jobs from hard-working Americans. It's very un-American to promote people just because they couldn't speak English. Now that the websites have been scrubbed the healing can begin. God Bless Trump and all hail America!

Folks, let me tell you, I just read the most fantastic article about the IRS and the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE). And I've got to say, it's a total win-win. Believe me.

So, this so-called "report" from The Washington Post says that the IRS is expecting a huge loss in tax receipts due to the DOGE disruptions. But let me tell you, folks, that's just fake news. It's a total disaster. And I'm not talking about the fact that the report is based on data and trends. No way.

I mean, think about it. The Department of Government Efficiency is a great name for an organization, by the way. So good. But what they're doing is amazing. They're shaking things up, folks. They're making government more efficient. And that's exactly what we need.

Now, I know some of the fake news media outlets are saying, "Oh, the IRS is losing billions in tax receipts." But let me tell you, folks, that's just a bunch of losers talking. The real winners here are the American people. We're going to save so much money by having fewer bureaucrats and less waste in government.

And let's be honest, folks. $500 billion is not even a significant loss when you think about it. I mean, what did we spend on our military last year? A tiny fraction of that. So, if the IRS is losing half a trillion dollars, that just means we're saving the other half. It's all part of the Trump magic.

And by the way, folks, have you seen the new White House logo? It's tremendous. The best. And I think it's going to be huge for our government's branding efforts. Just huge.

So, let's not focus on the fake news about the IRS and DOGE. Let's focus on the real winners here: us, the American people. We're going to come out of this recession in record time, believe me. And it's all thanks to the Department of Government Efficiency and my amazing leadership.

I'm not. I'm talking about in companies where dev A wants dev B to do some work, but they don't use git or any kind of source control, so you email over a cursed ZIP file, then dev B does the work and sends it back with a different name. It's a highly cursed situation.

A big part of the appeal with Plex is that you can run a server and friends can sign up for a FREE account and stream remotely. When you take this away, you're going to just kneecap the whole offering. This is such an arrogant move from Plex: they are thinking that when this change goes live they will get a flood of subscriptions. The more likely outcome is they will get a few subscriptions and a lot more angry and frustrated people that walk away.

I don't think they necessarily have to get rid of it, it's just that you can't support a company ALONE from a one time infusion.

Project 2025 is the most double talky I've ever seen Donald Trump. "Project 2025? Nope, never seen it, never heard of anything in it, but it's got some great ideas. I'm not going to follow it and I don't have anything to do with it but I hear it has some really good ideas, but I won't be adhering to them."

Reminds me of the "Unite The Right" rally where he wouldn't really condemn anyone: "Those folks are really nasty, but also there's a lot of good folks."

I think this is part of his "charm". He double talks, so if you are a fan you perk up on the positives and let your eyes glass over during the bad parts.

One of the problems with America is if you ask people on the street who's the happiest country in the world, a good chunk will answer America and not believe this result. I've always said the problem with being #1 (or thinking you are) is that you don't work very hard to improve.

One metric America leads the world in: self-delusion regarding its own performance in every area. How many people say America leads in math, science, health? Don't get me wrong, in a lot of categories the US is top 20, but very few where we actually are #1. Until this attitude is fixed, we're not going to see real improvement. RAH RAH RAH USA #1 is nice to whip up a crowd at a rally, but it's not good for positive ongoing change.

I keep a Jellyfin instance running as a hedge. Here's the thing with Plex (and actually a lot of companies set up similarly): those "lifetime" memberships are a trap. Think about it: Plex gets your money ONCE but they have ongoing expenses. Sooner or later, they'll have spent every single cent made by a lifetime membership unless they either get more folks OR squeeze everyone a bit more.

Once they started adding their own shows and making strange UI decisions, I could sense the end was coming. A move like this brings it up fast. Jellyfin is not nearly as good as Plex in a lot of ways, but it's really Open Source.

Anyway, a lot of rambling, but in short: when there is a "lifetime" subscription, watch out!

If you believe someone is good and they decided to do something against the law but for good reasons, are you going to punish that person?

The answer is: some people put the law ahead of any kind of moral code they may have. Those people would be hesitant to contradict the law in such an instance.

The problem is, both parties serve someone, and it's not the common man. The Republican party is a lot more effective at maintaining the illusion -- look at how many of their constituents consistently vote against their own interests and are proud to do so.

There's people working for Federal agencies RIGHT NOW that have either already been terminated or are on the rocks and they are STILL Trump supporters. They are willing to destroy their own lives just to "own the libs" and it will be interesting to see how far this trend will be taken.

Don't vote Republican

Yeah, everyone keeps bringing this up like it's some kind of dunk, but the DNC can basically run things as they please. Don't like it? Start another party. The party's procedure goes back a few decades by now. People act like when Biden dropped out they did this crazy double secret turbo maneuver but the fact is the DNC can put forth whomever they want.

Even better, maybe it will support Docker.

Well, if they manage to get it working on Android I'll be really impressed.

I always give 100 percent of what I get paid. Minimum wage equals minimum effort.

That seems acceptable, but I'm not sure what that does for your chances of promotion. Typically people move up by doing more than they are obligated to do.
