  • The Adams election was like a preview of the Trump election for me. Many of us saw this man was a corrupt, lying egomaniac well before the election, because so much of the reporting made it crystal clear. And we did our part by spreading the word and voting against him, and in the end none of it mattered one iota because voters disliked de Blasio (Biden) and wanted a major change and were too dumb to see Adams (Trump) for what he actually was.

  • He's made comments that indicate he's clearly worried about being assassinated, and then he started doing this. So yeah.

I think it's also to deflect criticism. How can he possibly be a conniving, evil autocrat when he has such a cute kid?

  • Democrats are not impotent; they can vote no on every confirmation, every bill, every time. They can delay all votes using parliamentary procedure. They're just not doing it because they want to play nice. They think Americans will get tired of this on their own and vote Democrats into majorities in 2026. They don't want to give Trump an excuse to say Democrats obstructed him so he had to do this, etc. But it won't work, and while they play nice we'll descend into autocracy.

  • I don't mean to be rude, but are you from Candyland? You need 20 Republicans in the Senate to convict him and remove him from office. He tried to kill them and they still didn't convict him.

    It won't happen.

  • This MF was appointed by Clinton.

People need to stop expecting the judiciary to save us. It won't. Think back to the many, many times when people thought "now is the time we'll finally hold these criminals accountable." The Supreme Court failed us. Federal judges mostly failed us.

It's like talking about how the Senate Sergeant-at-Arms is gonna start arresting people. No. This is all cope.

Organize. People in the streets will be the only solution.

  • The answer, of course, is for the remaining USAID staff to just ignore conflicting instructions and just give the food away. Federal workers need to understand that the job they have is not secure whether they obey or not.

  • No, this is not true. For low and middle income earners it was a mixed result at best. Some paid more, some less. Do you know what wasn't a mixed result? Corporate taxes being slashed in half, from an average of 23% to just 12%.

  • A confrontation is coming, but the problem is it isn't just one person but an entire party in power. If it's as bad I think it will be—and we make it out of this as a single country—we're going to need de-Nazification laws, but with the Republican party. "De-Republicanification"...

  • This really says everything that needs to be said, doesn't it?

They make all kinds of excuses for why they lost the election while somehow failing to identify the inconvenient actual reasons, then they complain when their voters push them to oppose actual autocracy, which they've been warning about for a decade.

Democratic politicians would rather be domesticated and kept as docile pets than risk a confrontation.
