  • When my kids were younger I monitored their usage and restricted their access. As they earned trust this eased up. Now that they are teens they are mostly free to do what they want. I will still ask what they use their phones for and we have frank conversations about it, but I will not invade their privacy unless there is a good reason.

  • This look to me like an advocacy group successfully advocating for common sense legislation:

“Advocates for menstrual equity who oppose a tax on menstrual products say the taboo around menstruation and the lack of access to menstrual products hurts women economically because it costs them money for products and may keep them from attending jobs and school. Poor menstrual hygiene poses health risks for women, including reproductive issues and urinary tract infections.”

  • This is like coming up with an original name for a D&D character: you just put together sounds until you get something that sounds cool. Here is one:

    Bryo-Kernatz

Once you have the name it helps you imagine the character it might belong too.

  • I have used my Yubikey to do FIDO2 auth on Linux Mint with Chromium and Firefox. I have tried M365, Twitter and Facebook but any website that supports FIDO2 should work.

Did not need to install any OS components.

  • If someone injures you through a false statement of fact you can sue them for libel.

It is hard to do more than that without encroaching on free speech: people are entitled to their opinions. That said , free speech is not absolute and has linits.

  • Everyone in this thread is ignoring all of the invisible things we do everyday as part of the social contract:

-Every time someone stops at a red light

-Every time we accept a piece of paper and in return render some service or surrender some treasure

-Every person waiting in line everywhere

    -Every person who pays taxes

-Every time we go to the grocery store and just take it for granted that there will be food at the grocery store

I get it some a-hole cut you off in traffic. But we rely on our social contract to literally stay alive. It is a miracle and the pinnacle of human achievement. Maybe just say thank you?
