Basically all of my services / automation are all completely isolated.

I have my network setup in such a way, that shutting down the WAN firewall, has basically no impact on anything else internal... other then loss of the default route (aka, the internet).

However, I do host a lot of externally exposed services.... websites, etc.... Since- they are kinda important, I do have monitoring to let me know when they aren't internet accessible.

WELL... if you like lemmy, and you want the reddit-look... there IS solutions to that problem!!

Zwave and zigbee are 100% local by design.

Anything running an esp chip is usually flash able.

Check home assistants integration list for things you are considering buying.

Cloudfree.shop has a lot of local only devices

I go out of my way to avoid cloud-based products. Which- is funny, because I do a LOT of home automation, and many of the cheap products, are cloud-interconnected shit, which will go obsolete in a few years.

Lets be honest... he is too busy single-handedly destroy reddit to worry about messing with Lemmy. I think lemmy is the least of his issues right now.

I use github for public projects. Easily discoverable and it works extremely well.

For private/internal, inuse gitea. Very small, lightweight, but works perfectly

Users would need to re-subscribe/follow/etc, but, all of the data would be there.

There is an odd bug when the app first loads in....

After it loads, if you click off of local, and back onto local though, it will THEN show only local posts.
