  • Dismissing sexism within a particular group because it is disproportionately prevalent in that group is, frankly, treating that sexism as acceptable.

You can just as easily extend this approach until you either reach a group where it's evened out, or is the entirety of humanity.

"It's more prevalent in stem? No, you have to look at university students overall"

"It's prevalent in university students overall? No, you have to look at all students"

"It's prevalent in students as a whole? No, you have to look at everyone involved in education"

"It's prevalent in education in general? No, you have to look at public services as a whole"

"It's prevalent in public services as a whole? No, you have to look at all non-private entities"

"It's prevalent across non-private entities? No, you have to look at all forms of work"

  • walks onto building site

    "Where are all the doorknobs?!"

"Trimmed down" is probably not the best way to put it, as it's not a limited version of X but an entirely separate protocol, so it's growing from zero rather than shrinking from where X was

  • Afaik the Nvidia issues are pretty much resolved now, though it may depend on exactly which GPU you use.

It's definitely worth using Wayland if it's not having issues, and switching back is absurdly easy, so I'd recommend using Wayland and going back to X if you're encountering issues.

Tldr: it'll probably be fine, give it a go and see

  • That's not what Wayland is like these days - screenshots etc have been implemented for years now

The point they're making is that, as a totally distinct project, every single feature had to be implemented from scratch. It's not a fast process, especially relying on volunteer labour

  • The houthis aren't formally or de facto at war with Israel either, though you're right that they are involved.

But affected 3rd party countries are equally within their rights to protect critical trade infrastructure in international waters as well.

  • Nonono, you've decided on my behalf, based on pulling shit out of your ass, that I'm cool with companies doing environmental damage and slave labour.

If Amazon set up shop in Yemen and started blindly destroying and siezing ships in the red sea, they'd be getting bombed too.

Additionally, you've presented a false dichotomy - protecting trade in the red sea is not mutually exclusive with prosecuting corporations for climate crime.

  • It's also important to note that there are diplomatic and domestic consequences to vetoing UNSC resolutions.

While the US might be willing to veto the previous ceasefire resolution, the diplomatic and political costs of vetoing a clear cut finding of genocide are so massive that, I think and hope, the US will not be willing to do so.

  • You know that isn't what I am saying.

As far as I'm aware, there have been no reports whatsoever of non-military targets being hit in the strikes. Targeting the infrastructure being used by a non-state group to disrupt the most critical trade route on earth is absolutely proportionate.

The CEOs of those companies should be prosecuted instead, however there is not appropriate legislation for environmental damage in the UK and US.

    1. Being victims of genocide does not mean it is impossible to commit genocide
    2. Israel is an ICC signatory, and is obligated to follow its rulings
    3. The PM, Defense Sec and Knesset are all of the policy makers for military policy
    4. This is just "all Palestinians are hamas". Straight up racist shit.
    5. Israel totally controls and only allows minute amounts of all of these resources through, of which multiple international aid organisations have stated it's vastly insufficient
    6. Genocide is not self defense. The Palestinian people have a right to exist as well.

Bonus point: multiple genocides can exist at once, the fact that others are being committed does not change the events within Gaza
