Lithium salts are used to treat bipolar. The metal isnt just reacting with the water on your tongue to create a very strong base (and lots of heat), you are also going to be ingesting that Lithium (as a lithium soap as it reacts with oils and fats) which can have different (unpleasant) effects on you depending on how much was ingested. If your kidney function is impaired, it gets worse.
Lithium, Sodium etc. need to be upped to "please reconsider." Calcium and all the lanthanides are also metals I would not advise licking because theyre very reactive. Promethium is especially dangerous due to its radioactivity with its longest lived isotope having a half life of around 17 years. So not only is it reactive, youd die to the radiation too.
Saying that our only options are to produce stuff or not produce CO2 at a gargantuan scale is a false dichotomy. CO2 production at the scale that it is now is the result of the production processes that result in that CO2 being cheaper than the ones that on the whole, do not. We are flushing this planet down the drain not because we cant do otherwise but because its cheaper right now to do what were doing instead.
Settle down there hipster. Most peoples' taste buds werent ruined by having tasted 15 dollar an ounce artisan organic free range no cholesterol soy sauce made by a secretive order of Japanese monks using only the finest water from the fountain of youth. Realistically they've got 3 options: store brand, Kikkoman and whatever overpriced soy sauce brand their local store begrudgingly put on the shelves. Theyre not cheap enough to get the store brand but lets face it, in this economy, nobody wants to shell out a dollar an ounce for something theyre going to drizzle over instant rice.
The number of solutions/roots is equal to the highest power x is raised to (there are other forms with different rules and this applies to R and C not higher order systems)
Some roots can be complex and some can be duplicates but when it comes to the real and complex roots, that rule generally holds.
There are multiple high oxidation state metal fluorides that can be synthesized and isolated in relatively large quantities as pure substances that have a higher electron affinity than Fluorine. The most oxidizing of these is Platinum hexafluoride whose electron affinity approaches 8 electron volts. To give you an idea of how insane that is, Fluorine's electron affinity is slightly higher than 3 electron volts. i.e adding an electron to PtF6 liberates almost 3 times the energy that adding an electron to Fluorine does. It is such a strong oxidizer that it can tear an electron off Oxygen molecules to form PtF6 * O2. It was this observation that lead to the experiments that demonstrated the first noble gas compounds. PtF6 reacts with Xenon to form a similar salt. This was the first time nobel gases were proven not to be universally inert.
Mixtures of Fluorine and lewis acids like Boron trifluoride, Antimony pentafluoride and the like can functionally act as far stromger oxidizing agents than Fluorine itself. These form superhalogen salts when they react with things or just destroy whatever it is that was unfortunate enough to be mixed with them.
PtF6 is not the molecule with the highest electron affinity that can exist. It is just the current record holder for the highest electron affinity of something we have been able to isolate as a pure substance. Hyperhalogens, which are essentially russian nesting dolls of oxidizing agents, can approach electron affinities of 10 electron volts. And while we cannot isolate these in their pure state, their extreme affinity for electrons can be used to stabilize otherwise unobtainable positively charged ions as salts.
Then there are molecules like datomic Beryllium monoxide that are too reactive to isolate as bulk materials that are capable of reacting with Helium and Neon which are the least reactive elements. A combination of Copper Fluoride and Sodium Fluoride in the gas phase are similarly capable of reacting with pretty much any molecule or atom we throw at them.
Naked Hydrogen ions (protons or H+) have also never been isolated in solution or in the solid phase due to their reactivity. The H+ youve probably run across in chemistry arent actually isolated H+ ions. Theyre always bound to a ligand like water. There does not exist a neutral atom or molecule that H+ will not violently react with.
Yes they can but it would be very rare and Deimos is small enough, and orbits far enough from Mars that its apparent diameter from Mars is about 1/10th the diameter of Phobos. So it isnt really much to look at.
General rule of thumb is to only get a warranty for things that you cant easily replace. i.e a 10 dollar keyboard from walmart doesnt need a warranty. A 3,000 dollar gaming computer probably does. Companies charge more money for warranties than it costs them to honor them. That is how they make money and it is why they are pushed as hard as they are.
Denying that there are substantial differences between animal and plant protein is a weird take. (Anyone with a milk protein allergy is grateful that the proteins in plant milk arent the same as the ones in cow milk) Plant proteins arent always complete and the type of proteins arent the same. Plants for example, dont have proteins like casein which is present in cow milk. And as is pointed out in the linked review, can be deficient in amino acids such as Lysine, Cysteine and Methionine. (The sulfur containing amino acids they refer to) There is also evidence that plant protein by and large isnt absorbed as effectively as animal protein. Which is fine for the vast majority of people. i.e contrary to the fear mongering, vegetarians and vegans still get plenty of protein unless theyve done something horribly wrong. And the lower digestability of plant proteins has been useful in treating proteinuria (excessive protein in the urine) which is usually associated with kidney failure.
Yes because they never ruled out depression and you did. Fuck off. Long covid is not depression. Depression doesnt cause you to lose your sense of taste and smell. It doesnt damage your blood vessels to the point where you exhibit symptoms of neuropathy and lack of blood flow.
