  • I don't necessarily want fascists to be in society, but they should have a right to be there as long as they're not actively hurting others.

  • the left is making great gains in the US, the right is the side losing seats.

I thought the US Democratic party was “far right”?

  • Oh look, a wokeist who thinks consent can be withdrawn retroactively.

    What a surprise.

  • This sort of black-and-white thinking is what I hate the most about internet politics.

  • The word “donate” implies that it's voluntary. If it's enforced by the government, it's a tax.

  • Tell that to all the smokers trying to quit who wish their younger self had not started in the first place.

  • Yeah, which is why illegal drugs have more users than legal drugs (alcohol and tobacco). Except they don't.

  • Leave it to Lemmyists to downvote a comment saying that you shouldn't be allowed to force other people to breathe poisonous smoke.

  • Here you go:

  • I'm not talking about web applications.

  • Yeah, accidentally running into the halting problem is common in automatic code analysis.

  • And that will be fine in most applications.

Have you never written a useful program that took more than 10 seconds to complete?

  • For JavaScript apps, stopping them when they consume too much resources is definitely a good idea. But if you work on some project where it's common to run computionally intensive tasks, it can be harder to detect non-halting.

  • It's also beautiful because it doesn't have C-like syntax.

  • “The other programmers keep accidentally writing code that ends up in an infinite loop. I'd like you to make a program that can reliably detect that.”

  • Looks like your browser doesn't have a PDF viewer built in. You should install an extension that adds it (PDF.js), it's really useful.
