  • That just isn’t consistent with the behavior we’ve seen from Iran for decades. They have acted rationally over and over again, trying to avoid conflict, de-escalating when attacked (to their own detriment IMO), signing and complying with treaties. There’s a lot of anti-west sentiment in Iran, sure, but given what the west has done to them for a century, that’s very very rational. Why should I believe that such rational people would ignore the principle of Mutually Assured Destruction that’s prevented all nuclear powers from using the weapons so far?

I’ve been hearing this alarmist rhetoric about Iran here in the US my entire life and I just cannot reconcile it with what I see them do.

  • Sorry, couldn’t hear you over all the deafening silence from Kamala Harris and Joe Biden about how much they oppose this foreign policy and how different things would have been in this regard if either of them had become president.

  • Great, so you’ve chosen to create a framework that makes this conflict an existential threat to your opponent. You’ve literally told them that they need to fight with everything they have. That’s a brilliant strategy you got goin’ on there.

  • This is the part where genocidal freaks, like yourself, claim that Israel, and the US, don’t target civilians. Got it. That is of course a laughably inaccurate characterization of US and Israeli policy.

I also love it when the people with all the power proclaim the wonders and efficacy of peaceful resistance. How convenient for the entrenched power. I’m tempted to call out the origin of the United States, which was violent resistance to an oppressive regime. Funny how we find that story inspiring, but deride anybody else’s struggle to escape our own oppression.

  • I just love western logic that decries killing civilians as terrorism when one side does it, but rationalizes the same act when the other side does it in an efficient, mechanized way with orders of magnitude more death and destruction.

  • The US deserves every bit of blowback that we get for continuing to torment the rest of the world. If this escalates we deserve every single casualty that we incur. I will not celebrate deaths, injuries or damage, but everything that US armed forces and the US people suffer as a result is justified. We will be paying for our unjustified aggression for decades if not forever. I passionately hate this country, our government, both political parties, the prevailing culture and a good number of our stupid people.

  • If you’re serving in this military, and you don’t refuse the orders to do another fucking unprovoked, unjustified, poorly defined, illegal forever war, YOU DESERVE all the ptsd, dismemberment, ridicule, death, and shitty healthcare that is coming.

I know quitting is hard, and disruptive, but isn’t it far better than spending the rest of your life shitting in a bag, rolling to your pt appointment, with the gnawing suspicion that you are the comically evil villain in all those comic book movies you enjoyed as a child?

You have agency. You don’t have to sacrifice your health and peace of mind to the soulless, profiteering machine, that is (yet again) lying to us. Please stand up for yourself. Be an actual hero.

  • The Democratic Party has a reputation for being disorganized. However, it seems like they’re well coordinated in being incredibly ineffective as an opposition to Republicans. From the unprincipled party leadership, to the feckless elected officials, to the voters that never hold them to account, they’re impressively bad at politics.

  • I’d just like to take this opportunity to say “fuck you” to all the service people flying these planes, planning the logistics, and otherwise operating at the behest of our sadistic federal government. Sure, the civilian leadership is ultimately at fault here, but y’all are humans with agency. I’m no longer carving out culpability from these goddamn people anymore. Fuck you terrorists. If we escalate yet another war, I’ll plan to spit on you when you arrive back broken and dead. Bring on the downvotes.
