Fuck this guy. Shouldn’t have been there in the first place. Now, to a large extent because of his decisions, we all have to suffer through the rule of the dumbest, most bigoted and greedy assholes ever.
America has a long storied tradition of killing Nazis. It’s like a national pastime. It permeates our film and literature. We have been celebrated the world over for decades because of our talent with killing Nazis. We have monuments about this. Just sayin’.
It’s been pretty clear for a while now that Snoop is a poser, just like Ice T. They play a part, but they don’t actually stand for anything. It’s a shame that, as they’ve aged, these assholes have undermined the merit of their earlier work.
I hope that some of the coders losing their jobs to AI find a way to poisoning the well somehow and create tools to undermine the technology, the companies paying for it, and the oligarchs that want it.
I have them, they are great. Here are a few obvious things I’ve learned that I didn’t appreciate beforehand:
The complexity of the endeavor rises exponentially with the number of kids. That is to say, 3 is a much bigger leap from 2 than 2 was from 1.
They get dramatically more expensive and complicated as they get older. All that exhausting baby activity is the easy part. As you start to figure out how to do it, the rules shift and you have to get learning again.
I never imagined how much of adult life as a parent revolves around the literal management of shit. Between kids, pets, and aging parents, I just never expected to be so preoccupied with the logistics of excrement. I guess I was living in some kind of Disneyland in the before times. You sort of get used to it though. Sort of.
I no longer have any charity for these outgoing presidential remarks. What he is saying makes sense, but given that he didn’t bring this up or do anything about it when he had power, these sentiments are hollow pandering at best. Fuck you Joe Biden, your legacy is that you presided over the dissolution of American democracy and did genocide. No hollow words on your way out will change that.
20 years ago, a piece of shit like Mark Zuckerberg would have used a similarly meaningless term like “political correctness” instead. Made no sense then and makes no sense now. What is the problem exactly? Is there something wrong with having an ethical framework and applying it consistently? Or, having standards? Using this framing, any ideological viewpoint is inherently bad, including the nihilistic and hypocritical one that Zuckerberg himself is expressing here. It’s all just nonsense, and further evidence that the economy that plied this asshole with so much wealth is anything but a meritocracy.
What is the causal relationship between sociopaths and billionaires? Does becoming billionaire make you sociopathic, or do sociopaths have an easier time becoming billionaires?
As someone who would probably qualify as one of these anti-American Americans on Lemmy I can say this: A big factor for me is the despair I feel (having genuinely believed the myths for most of my life) as I see the facade falling away. The genuine awfulness and inhumanity of not just our government, and our economy, but also of the culture, the people themselves, is just overwhelming. These forums are one of the outlets I’ve been using for my rage. I can only speak for myself. I’m not a bot, or a Russian actor, or an edgy teen. I’m a disillusioned middle aged American.
I do not know which is worse, the societal damage that trump is doing directly, or the societal damage that his supporters are doing. On the one hand, trump himself has the keys to project violence on you and me and every other person alive, but at least he will eventually die. On the other hand, the swelling tide of stupid that millions of Americans are flopping around in will be here forever. Sure they are a minority, but that’s only a comfort if one lives in a rules-based democracy. America isn’t that. I will always hate trump, and I hope to literally piss on his grave some day. I will probably outlive the asshole, and that is comforting. Unfortunately, the increasingly emboldened mob of drooling, bigoted and fear-driven morons that make up a lot of my fellow citizens aren’t going anywhere as a collective.
I will say this again. I cannot be more full of contempt for the United States, or its awful awful people. Fuck this government, fuck our “leaders”, fuck this hostile economy, fuck the worthless Democrats, fuck the fascist Republicans, fuck the oligarchs, fuck the corporations.
