Yes -- few of the many homcidal societies on the planet were able to make the technological or artistic contributions to the world that America has made.

All civilizations throughout all of history are built on blood and oppression. Sorry -- that's just history.

Listen -- I'm American and aware that my country was built on Genocide. Sadly Spain committed genocide all over the Americas and every major civilization has done the same. Singling out a single country just divides good people who might instead work together for greater justice

It’s all disgusting out there.

My wife and I kicked all fast food 2010.

We use a crock pot for beans. Buy tortillas etc. We can beat Taco Bell burritos with zero worry about disease.

We transmuted our disgust for corporate hegemony into carefully crafted campaign designed to rise above it as much as possible.

And we’re not saints. Still using abuser Amazon because fuck. But we try and I ride right in by fast food faces feeling so good not to give them an effing dime.

Works for me.

Their obvious kindness.

Their big heart.

They make you laugh.

They have friends that you like.

The play a musical instrument.

They speak another language.

They can ride a bike faster than you can and you think you’re kind of hot shot about that.

They openly tell you that some of your habits are unsavory. You know they are. How courageous of them to mention it.

They like you anyway.

They can make chocolate chip cookies from memory and do like for no reason.

You like their family.

They don’t like your family but then again neither do you.

34 years later the two of you not only love one another but find things to like about one another every single day.

I do sometimes search Lemmy for subs I miss and when I don’t see them I feel sad I do not have time to start and tend them.

I’m coming up on a break and I think I will undertake one or two but if a person doesn’t have time to mod I don’t think they should mod.
