  • Chances are the person who inherits a billion dollars is already used to dealing with large amounts of money, and likely has the support structure of accountants and advisors that will help them deal with it.

A lottery winner is usually middle-class or lower, the type of person whose life would be changed by a few thousand dollars, and likely has no idea how to manage wealth of that size.

  • I mean the very fact that they are spending money on the lottery tells me that chances are they have bad spending habits.

And please, you, yes you, the person that buys lottery tickets and feels the need to explain to me how it's ok, we get it you're built different and aren't addicted or whatever, but there are still so many better things you could be spending it on.

  • How dare you disparage Hank Scorpio by comparing him to Elon!

One is a cartoonish villain that's become completely unhinged in his mad quest for power, the other is voiced by Albert Brooks!

  • Everyone over here saying TNG, but I'm gonna be real if you can make it through the real way to go is start with TOS. Watch it all in release order if you can, so you can experience the crushing depths of despair that is half of the movies lol.

  • I am pretty sure that's only Catholicism (possibly Orthodox Judaism?), and the reason is cold-blooded animals literally were not considered to be meat, so they are ok to eat during times that meat is prohibited.

  • The last season of Voyager was filming in the same studio complex as Enterprise during its first season, er? Robert Duncan McNeill (Tom Paris) looks like he just wandered on to the Enterprise set to say hi, maybe he knew the guy in the photo (sorry didn't really watch much Enterprise dunno the character/actor)? It looks like the Enterprise set, and the other performers in the background of the photo are wearing Enterprise uniforms, maybe someone recognizes the battle damage and can confirm its a season 1 episode?

  • A modern take on the (pre-NGE) Star Wars Galaxies style MMO, mainly the social aspects like player housing and player driven crafting system it had. We have still not seen such a deep crafting and resource system as SWG had in any game since.

While there are still private servers around in abundance, they are all too small to properly support the social aspects properly, and the dated engine really hold it back. A newer game engine and some modern QOL and UI changes is all you really need, and although the Star Wars IP would be great it would be fine with a lesser IP or fully unique setting.

There have been a few indie attempts at this but none have finished development, with the most recent one pivoting to AI and then going dark earlier this year, though to be fair indie MMO have a pretty bad track record for actually completing.

  • It's because as conditions changed, they never lost that mentality.

My boomer parents make twice the food they need to eat for dinner every single time and then just throw out or freeze and forget the leftovers, they could literally cut their food budgets in half just by being more reasonable with their portion sizes.

They have coffee at home and a nice coffeemaker, they go out for coffee almost every day driving a round trip of ~50km for the exact same brand of coffee they have at home, and when I mentioned this to them the last time they were having financial problems they said something to the effect of "oh well it's only a few dollars each" not even understanding that the gas they use and the wear they put on their vehicles is part of it too, and maybe it only costs a few dollars (plus gas etc) that when you do it every day it adds up.

It's literally the same as talking to my preteen nieces and nephews, they just have no concept of the value of a dollar, and are completely unwilling to change a single aspect of their lives to save money, and then get confused as to how they keep running out of money before the end of the month. I know that sooner or later I am going to have to take them in, or put them in a home, because they can't even manage their own finances and get angry and defensive any time I try to make suggestions to help them.

  • I really don't think you understood me there.

I am mocking your claim that "nobody mentions reddit", those repost bots are definitely not one of the main complaints maybe one of the top 5 or 10 tops, and nobody cares about mentioning reddit stop being a baby.

    More clear?

  • Also, more importantly, cowboys and ranching. At least back when I was a young'un out in the sticks it was commonplace to see someone wearing a cowboy hat, and rodeos were one of the major events for many small towns. In fact, one of (if not) the largest public events in Alberta is the Calgary Stampede, which is rooted in and still features many rodeo and cowboy type activities.

  • Seriously though, they act just like the T_D crowd from reddit, but at least there it was easier to avoid them (and they actually started banning them eventually). I am legitimately convinced that there is a huge overlap in members, they never cared about politics just about being hateful, they wore a right wing mask on reddit and they wear a left wing mask here.
