  • I don't really know why, but it was a bit of a meme in the early days on /r/manga and people were doing tons of alternate joke translations. I think that early attention gathered a lot of positive responses, but I think if you look at the content of this story without that context, it's pretty generic.

  • If only that were the case. These .5 chapters are just the bonus chapters that are included in the physical tankoubon volumes when they come out. There is an upcoming anime adaptation to get excited about though!

  • I have been enoying Helck, but it has been a slow burn so far story-wise. I have high hopes since they are doing 24 episodes that as the story builds, we will get some payoff later. Also, I have heard great things from source readers, so I am hoping that all the establishing and character building we are doing now will really benefit the show as it goes.

  • I have never had a problem before (Pixel 6a), You are probably getting the popup because you need to install it via downloading and installing the apk file (known as sideloading). Usually, by default, phones won't let you do this as it can be a vector for malware. You need to manually enable it. Your version of Android might have it in a different place than mine, but to enable sideloading on my phone, I had to go to Settings -> Apps -> Special App Acess -> Install Unnown Apps and make sure that Chrome is enabled on that list (files might be needed as well).

  • I had been reading this one and dropped it a while back (read up to chapter 90 according to Tachiyomi). It didn't feel anywhere close to the end, so I am surprised to see it ending so soon. It doesn't surprise me that the ending felt rushed. I will have to just dive through the rest to the end since it is done.

EDIT: Finished this up the other day and collected my thoughts over in the fortnightly thread.

  • This show continues to deliver in an absurd kind of way. It has turned out to be a bit of a comfy dungeon SOL show with combat more or less serving to show off some creative liberties of the MCs abilities.

Also, I usually skip OP/EDs, but I really like the ED for this show. As it has settled into a groove, the ED fits the show pretty well.

  • For an episode that had almost none of the titular Maou or Yuusha, I loved the humor that Zenia provided. Also, it seems as though the minister planned some kind of false flag attack to use as an excuse to escalate tensions. Interesting to see a bit more of the political side of things in the past episode or two.

Do we have any insight into the female member of the hero's party? We have been introduced to Max, Leo, and Fred, but I don't think we have seen any of the fourth member in the current time. Perhaps something tragic happened? Could it be related to the ghost/spirit thing that lives in his closet?

  • I wasn't going to watch it either, but kept seeing great things in discussions and on lists like this so I checked it out. I have been very surprised with how much I have liked it and the animation is great. It's not the typical genre I am into, but I hope it leads to more great josei adaptations going forward as it feels underrepresented within anime.

  • I was surprised by this show as well. Based on the synopsis I was expecting something like a courtly romance similar to an Austen or Bronte novel (but the Japanese version of that). I was not expecting supernatural battles and family/clan warfare like it's Naruto or something. Been really enjoying it though and cannot wait for the episode each week.

  • I had heard good things about the source material for this show and so far I have been enjoying it though the build has been slow. I am glad that there are 24 episodes planned for this one because it feels like the story is just finishing its prologue with this episode. Looking forward to seeing Helck and Vermilio together going forward.

  • Thank you to all the people bringing us this backlog of .5 chapters. It's been great to go back and revisit this incredible series before the anime airs. I really hope the adaptation goes well.

  • I have a Brother MFC Color Laser and everything here is true for the color version as well. I haven't had too many issues with wifi jank after I set a static ip both on the router side and the printer side, and then map the printer by ip port on the computer. However, it still acts up every now and then. I plan on fishing some ethernet to that corner of the office, but haven't gotten around to it yet.

  • I also wrote this over in the chapter thread, but I have really appreciated the additions to the story in the serialized version that are from Urumin's POV. Seeing how she interacts with her fellow idols has been great to see.
