  • Elbows the fuck up.

Doug Ford let’s start cranking up that electricity we sell them and they desperately need for their AI. US citizens are already seeing their electricity rates get hiked, let them see what their “dealmaker” delivers.

Government of Canada needs to dump Microsoft completely as European countries are doing. That won’t be easy, but it’s necessary.

And Canadian citizens need to stop fucking ordering off of Amazon.

Let’s start cutting them off our lumber and see how their housing crisis goes. Ours could use the raw materials and manpower.

Let’s cancel those jets, they’re US subsidized, that’s unfair according to the Wizard of Oz down south.

Elbows up is what you do when you’re ready to start knocking out some teeth. I’m ready to take some gut shots if it means standing up for Canada.

  • Honestly I think they’re just being pissy that their 200 deals and 90 deals in 90 days promises have amounted to almost nothing.

There’s no incentive to negotiate, as you said we already did last time and the very first thing Trump did (after pardoning insurrectionists) was tear up his own fucking “deal”.

  • In related news: https://www.theglobeandmail.com/investing/personal-finance/retirement/article-canadian-investors-us-stocks-sun-life/

Canadian investors divested from U.S. equity funds in the first quarter at the highest rate since the start of the pandemic, moving their money into more conservative investments, according to a new report from Sun Life SLF-T.
But people aren’t cashing out. Overall withdrawal rates remained stable, suggesting that investors are staying committed to their long-term savings.

  • I wish I’d sprung for the max when I bought my M1 Pro, but I am glad I splurged on memory. Really aside from LLM workloads this thing is still excellent.

Agree we can be doing a lot more, the recent generation of local models are fantastic.

Gemma 3n and Phi 4 (non reasoning) are my local workhorses lately.

  • Sure would help if they'd committed to Paris or any environmental standards.

And they should deal with their own forest fires. Remember when we sent firefighters there just this year when Trump was going on about 51st state crap? I remember.

  • That is cool! I've been wanting I've wanted to use a model like this but haven't really looked.

Are you self hosting the long context llm, of do what are you using?

Context lengths are what kill a lot of my local llm experiments.

  • That’s gross

They need to get hit by a slander suit from Tim’s

I’d mostly never side with the giant corp, but this behaviour needs to die.

It also needs to be legislated away, especially the “I can’t get a job because I don’t speak Punjabi” shit.
