  • All I can say is it would be a big, big loss.

Beehaw made me believe in the idea of building a healthy network, especially in the beginnings.
\ I remember the day I asked Chris to federate with us, we used allow-lists, and maybe this should have been the way to go, considering how much trash has happened in the meantime.

I totally agree with your criticism about the state of the platform itself, slow progress, missing and broken mod-tools etc. unfortunately it seems that development cannot keep up with the speed of growth and the associated demands.

So, imho, you make the Fediverse a better place that's why I hope you stay ;)

  • I have one of these, but it was a pita to set it up...

  • Personally I 'd prefer windy over tailwind, also I wonder if there is any significant userbase behind leptos. Infernojs was already a strange choice in that matter, compared to e.g. vuejs.

  • Hosting an instance myself, I’m not amused, because if forces my instance to literally sync all content there is on the lemmyverse, drastically increasing traffic, storage use etc.

Please don’t force resource consumption beyond any rational usage!

  • It is a significant difference if an instance has to federate literally every post made on the lemmyverse.

  • Since the entire goal of the fediverse is “transporting” all data to all servers inside the ActivityPub/fediverse world, the data of a EU member will be transported all over the place.

It doesn't work like that, think of your instance being a proxy to the fediverse

  • Back then, when you wanted some new games you could:

    • buy them (over expensive)
    • trade some on cassette tapes at the schoolyard
    • Go to the library, grab some source code books, have fun programming them

Wrote my own text-adventure when I was 10, since then I came across Basic, Turbo Pascal, JS, Java, AS, Lua, Python, C++, maybe some more 😵‍💫

  • Who are you to judge me, I can't take you seriously

  • I haven't read a more absurd relativization of fascism for a long time

  • for legal responsibility hosting an instance, if someone posts illegal content, whatever, it should be possible to hide it from public access.
